Hey guys, I just did my water pump, timing belt and tensioner...

The problem is the new tensioner is make more noise then my old one! It is brand new from shosource... it sat for a few months before I put it on, but I don't think that is an issue.

Are they normally louder? New belt wearing it? I am confused. I thought it also might be my new belts as well, went from gator back to ribbed, maybe I am hearing the noise from those?

1995 175K MTX

--edit--

Did my cps too.

I might have, that will go away eventually won't it? Or will it mess it up?

idk,

mine seems to do the same thing, I released some tension but it still does it. Seems most noticeable when hot; that was 15k ago and still no change. Gates Timing belt?

Released a bit a tension too, slightly quieter... probably not a big deal, cant hear it after 2000 rpm anyways.

I am using the Dayco belt from shosource, and the tensioner from there too.

Mine is making the same "supercharger noise". I recently installed a Gates belt, I've always used them. I ran the engine without the accesory belt just to make sure it was the TB tensioner. I readjusted the tensioner and it didn't make any difference. So I guess I need to buy a new tensioner but I want to make sure it's a good one. I've got about 5,000 miles now on this noisy tensioner and no other problems.

When I did my front 60K I had the same issue. If I can find the post of the video I'll post it here soon. It did the exact same "supercharger whine."

Give me a few seconds and I'll find it.....

I've found that most new belts tend to have that supercharger whine noise. My wife's timing belt had one forever. It was a gatorback timing belt. I've heard they're noisier than others.
