I am curious too!! I sent him an e-mail with a few questions. Hopefully he'll get back ASAP.

Here's his website. http://www.geocities.com/importmodifications/timingadvance.html It's out of Canada, even though the e-Bay auction says U.S. The auction is upto $17.00 but his website says you can get it all the time for $14.95, but doesn't say anything about shipping. So if you miss out on the auction then you can use PayPal and go through the website above.

I'll let you know the answer that I get back from him.

You can do the same thing with a resistor. I have seen both the air intake temp. sensor and the coolant temp. sensor replaced with a resistor that tricks the computer into thinking it is colder than it is. The computer then thinks the air is denser and adds more fuel. This is one of those tricks that might have made a difference on speed density cars with a few mods, but I doubt you would see any difference.

Agreed sounds like crap. Remember the saying" If it sounds too good to be true", then it probably isn't. :cool:

I agree. It does work, but how would it work here? I know in my friends 88 Benz (which has a completely different fuel management system, from what I gather), pulling the resistor (allowing the system to maximize spark timing) it really did make a noticeable difference. I would say probably not so much in HP numbers, but definitely in the responsiveness/smoothness of the engine.

I e-mailed the guy with several questions such as;
"where does it plug into", "how long has he had his hooked up to his car", and "has it ever caused a Check Engine Soon light to come on"?

And the only thing he answered was where to plug it into. Here's his exact e-mail back to me.

Hello;

It plugs right into your IAT sensor.

Thanks

I don't think I'll be sending money to him.

I should explain the 10-25HP gain is not Drag Strip or Dyno HP gains. But is in fact real world, as you drive every day, extra HP when you want it. Maybe at most 5HP on a dyno.

All electrical, maintenance-free and hardly noticable when in operation, except for the power increase. At night when electrical use is highest the gains are most noticable.

I have a VAK package you just wire in and connect to a vacuum line. This will cut power to the alternator, VAPs, and A/C when in operation. It could also be used to both increase line pressure in the ATX and boost the 12v system to 14v during the short term operation of the VAK. Or anything electrically controlled you can think of. How about dis-engagine the TC lockup too?

I have a small 12V deep discharge gel cell battery (20 LBS) and the system worked flawlessly at the convention auto-xing at Summit Point and at the drags where I ran the cooling fan in between runs with the engine off. The small battery delivers more power than a OEM type battery twice it's size.

Currently I am testing the 14V boost mod but have been using the VAK for the last 3 months with no problems.

Sounds very interesting, keep me updated on how it is working. I would be interested. Is it something someone with average (at best) mechanic skills could figure out? Let me know please. Email me off line if you want. [email protected]
Thanks,

Mike
