I saw 2 on the way in to work 2day. Looks like Ford has been able to get the Taurus mix up to about 20-25% SHOs

......no question the new SHO is very nice. And costly.....The V-6 with the twin turbos does put out the ponies....at the price of high stress and service complications. What if FORD actually "leap-frogged" the hot competition(you know BMW,Mercedes,Lexus,Inf., Audi) and just looked at it's V-8 inventory and said"gee, we,ve got a 4.6 and even a 5.4 " (all proven and available in various strengths) and put one of those mills in the car. Hmmmmm, we can see it now 400 + Horses; reliability, less cost resulting in a lower window price....... Instead what we've got is, sure a good performer, just matching some of the others and not the "standout" I expected. Thanks

X-Plan is Friends and Family pricing, not employee pricing (that's A-Plan), and it's not always better than the then-current promotions. F'rinstance, the "Employee Pricing" promo Ford was running in December was either A-Plan or better, so an X-Plan PIN wouldn't have saved you anything. Sadly, the X-Plan isn't quite as good as it was when I used it to buy my LS a couple of years ago, but it's still great in that there's no haggling on the price of the new vehicle.

Edit: Also note that there are vehicles excluded from the X-Plan, and dealers do not have to accept X-Plan deals (and you are required to tell them up front that you'll be using an X-Plan PIN).

Correct, I have it with CSX, brought the price down from 43k to 40k on the 2011 I picked up on Memorial day. Can only be used for dealer inventory. 500 off promo with 2.9%.

Simple explanation... but SERIOUSLY FLAWED...

First... SHO is really a FWD car with an added AWD system.:nut: The engine bay won't handle a crossways V-8.:dribble:

Second, a V-8 won't get the same fuel mileage if operated normally.:munch:

Today.. it's all about the potential Federal mileage obtained, even if real world is totally different. Look at the F-150 mix of over 40% EB engines, even though they really cost the customer about $2,000. more. :naughty::naughty:

Sorry you are not impressed. I AM... How many guys have a 213 CI 5,000 lb wagon that turns 12.9's?????:woo-hoo::woo-hoo:

Do you???:thankyou:

Bob makes excellent points. Additionally, I have noticed that a number of firms are in fact scaling back on the number of cylinders on offer, that is, replacing V8s with V6s, V6s with various forms of 4s, etc. The trend is to do more with less via new hardware, rather than shoehorn old, larger hardware, into things.

That's how the musclecars first died out in the 70s, though the push from OPEC was probably felt a lot harder back then than now. Long live the Dodge Omni ;)

Actually the insurance industry/early EPA regs were the real killers of the 60's-early 70's musclecars. Most of the real power monsters were gone by 71', because of low-lead gas, add-on emission systems and ridiculous insurance "performance policy riders". :salute:

My opinion is that Ford "After 6 years" has not up-ed the ponies on the sho from 365 so I think they would have to do a complete redo of the trans- drive system to handle the extra HP The 2016 Taurus is a complete redo re. along the lines of Ausie Falcon XR8 body with a T4 engine???

I think the success of the Fusion and Explorer is taking resources away from the Taurus. The new Continental/Maybe Taurus is not a RWD platform and looks to have nothing to do with the Falcon. Ford has probably paid attention to the failure in sales that the Chevy SS is and chosen to let the Falcon die when the Australian factory is shuttered this year.

The 2016 Taurus/SHO is the same as the 2013-2015, just a few new colors. Saw one at the Chicago Assembly Plant when in Chicago SHO Convention this past July.

I think he is referring to a design change that could have occurred in 2017, but there is nothing left after Fusion / Explorer.
