A member over at VWvortex did a Photoshop of these wheels on the new Taurus...

IMO that's the best looking Taurus I've seen yet. If the image was to scale, I'd say they're about 22" :nut:

They're from the Edge Sport...

Those are OK. Too large and heavy though. According to motor trend, the wheel alone weights 41 lbs.

I was experimenting with tire rack on the MKS and I came across this:
Sho1

on 20"

These caught my eye too.
Sho2

on 19"

wow those Edge rims look extremely upscale on the Taurus. Those look great!

I'm really impressed with Ford's alloy wheels lately. Even the 17 steelies on the Fusion are really nice, but the 18 Sport, 19 SEL/SHO and 20 SHO's look really nice. I was worried that Volvo was going to get all the good rims for awhile!

C30 bodykit side

I really like the Atreus from the C30.

Edge Sport wheels are 22 x 9". And yes, chances are they would be very heavy, most of the OEM Ford cast wheels are. And $1000 each at wholesale pricing.

I like those Edge Sport wheels on the SHO and on the Edge, but they are too big and heavy. I've seen Edge Sports in person and with those wheels on the stock brakes, it makes the rotors look like bottle caps and since the SHO gets SLO brakes, it will probably do the same to the SHO. They are massive wheels though, like Fast Ed says, and get 255 series rubber on the Edge sport. Who would've thought 10 years ago that your soccer Mom's crossover/SUV would get wider tires than the Cobras and 'Vettes of that time?

Get me some forged wheels, like the 19's on the new GT500 (which will bolt onto the new SHO now that Ford has finally standardized it's bolt pattern) and I will be happy.

Yes, but then you have to stop all of that extra rotational mass of the wheels, so it pretty much cancels a lot of the additional stoping power out and just adds static weight, slowing accel and hurting handling.

I just did some quick research on Tirerack.com and pretty much every 22" wheel is at least 40lbs, where you can get a 20" Forged BBS wheel (the largest diamter they make I believe) which weighs only 22.5lbs (referring ot the RS-GT). That's almost half and you could still put pretty big binders on there. Doesn't the Enzo/ZR1 Carbon Ceramic Brembo brakes fit inside of a 20" wheel on those cars?
