That's right guys and gals, it's still here. After installing new struts, springs, all new hardware, balljoints, new knuckle, SFB's, F/R motor mounts, sway bar endlinks, and getting an alignment, I still get a clunk on the driverside front of the car when ever I go over bumps. It sounds like someone is hitting the bottom of my car with a piece of wood. My last thoughts are that it's either the trans mount, or the strut rod.

So my questions are; what do you think it is, and how hard is it to install the trans mount?

!Thank you!

The strut rod to frame bushings are just as important and cheap too. Another possibility is that the actual strut rod mount in the subframe may have broken. This can be welded back into place.

That's what I was thinking. But my brother actually took a look at the car while I rolled back in the driveway and let out the clutch(causes clunk, or did, the motor mount stopped that) and he said there was no movement in the strut rod.

Roll up your windows! :D

I have this noise too. It's like a "pop pop pop" when going over bumps on the crappy roads in town with the windows rolled down.

As for the tranny mount I imagine it's a piece of cake to install when doing a clutch job. That's when I'm going to install mine.

In order to inspect the strut mount you must take the large nut off and the front half of the bushing. If the bushings are suspect there really is no reason why they shouldn't be changed for some poly or at the minimum O.E replacements. These for some unknown reason are the most overlooked bushings.

The clunk is heard better with the windows up. ;)

I actually did take off the nut and pushed the bushing off. The bushing is in good shape and I cant see any wear on the rod or anything else in that area.

Did you replace or check the swaybar-to-subframe bushings?

'Bout the only thing left that you didn't mention.

I have the same problem listed above. I too just did a suspension job with sway bar links, and lower control arms, struts, springs, and all the mounting hardware and bearings. The clunk is in the front right over bumps. It is so damn annoying. I didnt do subframe bushings though, and they look pretty crappy, but I dont think that would be it? Keep the suggestions coming. Thanks

How worn are your bushings? My Al. SFB's made an amazing difference because my stock ones were so worn. It could be the problem. I'd looking into getting a set from Bruce. They're cheap and work very well.
