OK, I was finished buttoning up the SHO after replacing the water pump, CPS and timing belt, when I look on my workbench and see TWO identical o-rings. They are the size of the one from the tube that lays in the valley of the engine on the crossover tube. One looks old, one looks new. I swear I installed a new one from the Felpro water pump kit on the tube before I replace the wp. Yet I'm also pretty sure the felpro kit didn't come with two of these thicker o-rings. Did I just spend several evenings assembling the car for nothing?
I blew into the radiator as hard as I could listening for air leaks and heard nothing, and it had tons of pressure when I pulled away from it. Does this mean I did install the o-ring. I didn't put coolant in it yet so yes, I could take it all back apart again if I have to.
One other thing. I'm pulling the intake to replace the valve cover gaskets. Is it possible to get to this crossover tube from the thermostat side? Can I pull it out of the water pump inlet from the drivers side?

Ehh. Looks like even more of a PIA. I guess I'll pull the water pump again to check my work before finishing the job.

Yes, you did do it right. The fel-pro kit comes with two of those O-rings. One for the end of the tube that goes into the back of the water pump, and one for the other end of the tube that goes into the thermostat housing. And of course it has the third smaller O-ring for the pump to block.

No problem. I'm glad you caught it before you started tearing your car apart.
