Hey everyone. I had my clutch replaced and transmission rebuilt at a local AAMCO and just got the car back. I ordered all my parts from ShoNut Performance and I decided to go with the "teflon impregnated, alumina ceramic coated aluminum TOB release shaft bushing upgrade". I wrote instructions for the guys doing the work on what exactly I needed done and what parts to use... specifying to use the upgrade release shaft bushing. In the picture below is what was left over after the job. I'm hoping those are the two stock bushings left over, assuming they did as I instructed and used the upgrade. I didn't get a chance to see the parts when they came in, so I don't know what's what. I also don't know what those other 3 little things are included in the picture. I was thinking they were flywheel dowels, which I know nothing about. So should there have been 3 of those little boogers left after all the parts I got for the whole clutch kit were used? All I know is I'm gonna be super-****** if they didn't put in the bushing upgrades like I asked! Haha thanks guys!

Congrats on picking AAMCO for your tranny work. You've just experienced your first of what will likely be several shaftings. Sorry.

In your picture are Josh's upgraded bushings. The old ones would have been clearly old, and worn, and grimey. The three dowels don't mean a whole lot, since dowels can be reused, and often more than 3 are included. HOWEVER, I would also be suspicious of them possibly not resurfacing the flywheel which requires the removal of the old dowels, and if there were 3 new ones why not put them in?

Just to back Chris up. They are indeed the upgraded bushings in your picture. Btw you would have known instantly the first time you pushed in your clutch that you had the upgraded bushings in there.

Yeah trust me... I'm WELL aware that I got shafted by AAMCO. I just didn't have the time to send me tranny to one of you guys on the forum to rebuild it because right now it's my only car. I knew those bushings wouldn't have been the old ones, but I suspected maybe those were the stock ones that came with the new clutch kit. So those are DEFINITELY the upgrades, not the new stock ones?? :madflame:

But they did resurface my flywheel over there, so that's taken care of. And the pedal DOES feel great... but maybe it's just because I was used to a very crappy setup that I had in there. Now I have to get used to the clutch grabbing with the pedal almost all the way out rather that all the way down at the floor lol.

No question. The stock ones are white, and are not included with any clutch kit.

I hope so. Unless I saw it with my own eyes I'd be suspicious.

Umm, sounds like you need to adjust the cable, since the opposite should be true.

Did you try contacting other members in your area for suggestions on more reputable shops than AAMCO? Heck, even ProTech probably wouldn't have stiffed you as bad. In any case, best of luck, and try to get some money back out of SCAAMCO.

Chances are Aamco did not replace the bushings at all. When you buy the release shaft bushing upgrade, it is exactly that, an Upgrade - you do not get the new stock bushings as well as the teflon impregnated ones, only the upgraded pieces. Think of the charge for the stock bushings as the "Core" charge for the upgraded pieces.

hmmmm... well i convinced the guys at AAMCO to pull my tranny back down and put the upgrade bushings in yesterday. The owner of the place called me back and told me that he pulled the white ones off that he just replaced the upgrades with and was going to give them to me as proof that he put the new ones in. He even called me and asked me to come over and take a look at everything to see that he put the upgrades in since I was just 1 mile down the road, but I was also at work so I told him I couldn't. But I'm still pretty sure I got a set of regular ones with the Leak Fixing Wear Parts kit I got from ShoNut, along with the set of upgrades. I mean, the guys said he pulled the white ones out that they just put in there a few days prior and replaced them with the upgrades... so it seems I DID get a regular set also, being that they were included in my wear-parts kit. I think the upgrades were still sold separately from the regular white plastic ones. I dunno... I never saw the parts when they came in.

Did they grease the tephlon bushings? :D Betcha they didn't do that either course you'd probably have to specifically tell them to do it.
