I participate on the Super Coupe Club of America SCCoA forum. The M5R2 Mazda Transmission blocking rings are also obsolete. One of the members contacted a vendor who developed carbon lined replacement blocking rings and recently made them available to quite a large number of the community at large.

I inquired about his capability to produce similar parts for the SHO MTX.

His reply was essentially...
He launched his project based on 200+ complete (5 piece) sets of blocking rings, he knows nothing of the SHO community and he personally has no interest in taking up this project on behalf of the SHO community. However he did offer to introduce me to the same fabricators he used to make those SC parts.

Post up here if you have any interest, or email me directly

Depending on cost, I know I'd certainly be interested in these. The lack of reasonably priced parts has put a real damper on the rebuilding business!

If the price is right, sign me up! I would trade my sho for a good shifting transmission, oh wait...

It's a shame synchros are hard to come by. I have a nice set of blocking rings, but all the 1-2 synchros aren't great.

Also interested, price dependant. I've read about aftermarket carbon synchros in Hondas holding up to pretty good abuse.

If this does go through, do you have an estimated time when they'd be ready?

So here's the lowdown...

My SC guy that ran the GB for SCCoA got this to happen by paying the tooling costs and 50% up front for ~175-200 complete sets, or over 1000 pieces! and finally 50% on delivery.

His selling price (bear in mind the 1-4 rings are carbon fiber lined) for a complete set was $250 each, I did buy one set from him, and they look perfect, and Mike tested them in advance of the GB opening. Perhaps the SHO rings will be cheaper to build as they aren't lined (?) them's that know, or them's that have a decent (or NOS) set for tooling setup, should weigh in if they are willing to participate with their coveted parts.

With all due respect, I'm not able to invest that sort of money on behalf of the SHO community.

However if anybody (or consortium of somebodies) wants to take my concept and run with it, I will be happy to make the introductions and facilitate, to the best of my ability, helping to make this happen.

I felt it of paramount importance to create a realistic expectation so no one misunderstands what is involved here and what I am willing to do.

Talk amongst yourselves and lets see if this dog will hunt.:munch:

Respectfully yours,:salute:

I guess we as a communutity need to decide which type of blocking rings to have reproduced.
Fiber lined would be more expensive, but they do shift smoother.
All brass would be cheaper, and they do last longer.

I do have an OEM set of both brass and fiber lined that could be used for this project. As long as I get them back un-harmed! :)

Brass is more tolerant to a wider variety of transmission fluids, e.g. Shockproof etc.

I would not give the community an option. Once you start giving all of these people something to whine about (well it should be made this way, or this way, NO This way!) then it takes forever to get the damn group buy started. This has happened MULTIPLE times in the SHO community and group buys just fell apart.

You are the one who will be going through the trouble of getting this group buy started. So pick what you want and let the rest of the community just be happy that you just got another obsolete part back on to the market.
