I hear a lot about Rod bearing replacement but nearly nothing about oil pump replacement.

Why (I'm not being sarcastic) dosent anyone change the oil pump when changing rod bearings? It seems like a good thing to do.

The oil pumps are a very good design, so replacement is not needed. Second reason is that they are LONG since obsolete. Good luck getting your hands on one. I have also pulled an oil pump of a 3.0 that had 230,000 miles on it and the pump looked great. I wouldn't hesitate to use it. O.k. I'm getting off my soap box now.:thumb:

and tri-signed..... uh... whatever...

If you want to replace it, your best bet would be to find a lower mileage car then yours... im not sure if they can be rebuilt.

I put in one vote for at least 320,000 miles. t may have somehting to do with the fact that they are always well lubricated and not under nearly as much specific loading as the rod bearings.

Wow, thanks for the support. I knew if I played with the SHO's long enough, I'd be able to give some sound advice.:)
