I just bought a '91 MTX and the sunroof won't close. I hear no life from the motor. I am not even sure if there's power to the motor. The sunroof is stuck in the upright position. I checked all my fuses and all are good. Any ideas?

This happened to me on my 93...switch probably sh** the bed. To get it closed in the meantime...remove the whole console and then remove the motor itself...there is a gear that sticks down into the motor...grasp this with a pair of pliers and turn it to close your sunroof. Be carefull not to strip the teeth on the gear. Probably going to want to got to your local FORD dealership and order a new switch. I paid $20.00 for mine...but I get an employee discount...it is good to be a Rhode Islander

Thanks so much for the info. That helps a lot, and I'm almost SURE you're right, because the switch feels REALLY weird. I was under the impression that the switch wasn't working as well, but I didn't think that was the only problem. Good to know, though. Thanks so much.

I can't remember how that upper console cover comes off, i broke mine when i took it down, but modified it to screw it back in with hidden screws, I don't think i did figure how it came out without breaking off all those little factory plastic tabs

Well, I am not sure about the 91 console... but in the GEN II, you remove the lenses for the map lights...there is a scre in each light recess...the kinda pull down slightly and push back...that is how I got mine off

Thanks a lot guys. I've already got the switch down and reeled down the sunroof. I can't get the switch up again, but who cares?

Hey Brian,
You live basically across the street from SDPATT if you are in the colony. If you need any service work done, he is known as one of the best in this area of the oountry. I also invite you to join the Lone Star Sho CLub. We often have get-togethers and such. Look in our club section in this website. Good luck with your sho.

I got onto the Lone Star site and registered for their mailing list, but I don't know if it worked or not, cause I'm not getting any emails. Oh well. I will register with the club later...does it cost money though?? I'd rather not pay for membership to a club, but if I have to I suppose I could.

I'm about to start the Dallas SHO Club, or SHO Club of Dallas here pretty soon. I found out there are no SHO clubs in Dallas and that HAD to change real quick.

So I'm about to start building the website for it and after I finish the site, I'll get people to start registering with the club. Free membership. And I always have events lined up in the area that I participate in such as autocrosses, 1/8th miles, 1/4 miles, and dyno days. So I should be able to hook the club up quite well.

I will definately look for the person you're referring to here in The Colony, but what's his name and information so I can get ahold of him?? Send me an email with that information or tell him to email me at: [email protected]
