Hi Folks,

I have (2) 95's that are identical twins. On one of them. When I hold the sunroof switch from an open condition, either the lifted back or full open, it will stop at the full closed position. From there I need to push the switch again to go to the opposing open condition. Which is excellent.

On the other one. The roof goes by the closed position to the opposing open position and I have to bump it back and forth to where it looks closed and need to feel the seam to be sure it is acually closed and flush.

Any idea if there is a closed switch or something that is not operating or out of adjustment?

Any help would be much appreciated.

my 93 does the same thing, I never thought anythign of it, But it was weird that it would stop a little bit after it being close and start to open again. I never knew it actually was supposed to stop in the closed position id like to know this too.

I have the same issue, it goes past closed from fully open and starts to open to vent mode.

If I proceed to fully vented and then close from there, it seems to land in about the right spot.

I assume there is a loose bushing to be replaced or adjustment that needs to be made, but for now, I have other(subframe related) issues to worry about.

Congrats if this is your biggest problem...

LOL

My stock sunroof switch broke and I replaced it with one from Napa, which worked fine for a couple months and then it started doing the same thing as yours. I think its something in the switch that fried. Its fairly easy to get it to stop in the right spot. Just note where it stops on your working one, and then stop it at the same spot.

Thanks for the info.

I'll replace the switch next week, if I can find the time, and post my results. :salute:

It just didn't seem like the position of the roof would be in the switch itself. But other things have defied my logic. :)

This is my 3rd '95 Taurus, 2 SHO and 1 SLO, and the first one where the roof didn't stop at closed position. I love the sunroof but am nervous of it pouring water into the car in a rain storm.

When you open the cover for the sunroof motor you will see a cam that actuates a switch at the approriate time when the window is moving. Check that little switch as well.

I've been pretty deep into the workings of the sunroof.
I used 2 auto rollup modules out of the drivers side door to make the sunroof fully open or close with 1 press.

Sunroofs are like pools.

Everyone wants one...but no one wants the maintenance headache.

To correct the problem you'll need to realign the motor assembly.
Tap the switch until the moonroof is properly closed.
Then remove the overhead console and the motor assembly.
There is an orange cam gear that you'll need to align with a blue switch.
This setup tells the motor when to stop.
Reinstall all and you're finished.
