Sunday mods

Well, Sunday I'll be putting on my 17" Team Loco wheels. They're stored at a
friend's garage right now. Fortunately he lives just a block from a gas
station with an air hose.
I also went to my local hardware shop and bought the necessary items to
Porterize my intake. Got the instructions all printed out. I figured as
long as I'm going to have the wheels off I might as well take advantage of
the situation and do the intake mod. Already installed a K&N panel filter
about 2 months ago.
I'll let you all know how it goes!

Hope it works out well for you.

What are you going to do with your old wheels? I suggest keeping them and putting a set of good snow tires on them for winter changeout (if you are located anywhere near where it snow!).

Long story short, I didn't get to put my wheels on Sunday like I had planned.

Most of the day was taken up doing the Porterized intake mod.

Even though it was a pain to do (It's amazing how easy things seem on paper),
it is definitely well worth it!! I couldn't believe how much better the car
responded to light throttle acceleration. DEFINITELY an improvement by the
old seat-o'-the-pants meter.

I'll shoot for next Sunday to get the wheels on. I hope to give the SHO a
nice wash and get some good pics taken.

And yes, I plan to mount some snow tires on the factory wheels. Hopefully it'll be a loooong time until the next snow comes!

One of the bigest problems with the original form of Porterization that Ron has on the V8SHO site is that it really is a pain to do. Particularly moving around the air box to get it all to fit. That is why I was very happy with the one piece mod I did, since it went in very cleanly and did not require shifting parts around. Actually, it took more time to pull out the sax than it did to put in the intake. The lip on the air box is a small thing to attach to, but part of the problem is the corner that gets in the way. The simple solution is to just cut a notch in the hose that fits over the lip where the corner is to get around it. Next time I have the digital camera on loan I will take a photo. But I still have not managed to figure out how to insert the photo into these messages on this board. How are you doing it?

Stephen. First you have to have a place on the net to put the pics....Photopoint.com or Picturetrail.com. Next...when you're looking at the pic at one of those sites....right click on it. Go to Properties and COPY. Come back here...(or use two windows) and in a reply like this put

[ img ]INSERT OR PASTE HTTP ADDRESS[ /img ] But...don't use the spaces in between the []'s.

One suggestion....find a post by someone where they have a pic posted...not in their signature...but just in the actual post. Hit REPLY WITH QUOTE above the post. Then you will see how its done...
