My 2016 SHO threw some codes on Monday on my way home from work. The codes were P0011, P0016, P0301, P0316 and P04DB. Now it has had a code for the PCV system for a few weeks that I've been working on and it keeps coming on intermittently and going back off.

This was new however, the check engine light was flashing and the engine lost power. It didn't last long but it did happen twice.

I took the battery out to have it tested as I know low batteries can cause all kinds of issues with these cars and while the battery did test good it had half the CCA that it should and needed to be charged.

I've charged the battery but I have not put the battery back in the car yet.

The car has almost 67K miles on it and until I had the last oil change done (first time I've ever had it done by a shop) I have never had any issues or codes pop up on it. I had planned on changing the oil this coming weekend. I'm almost 56 and I have NEVER let a shop change my oil, my wife talked me into it and now says"you will never let anyone change your oil again will you?" NO

Thankfully I do have a 100K mile power train warranty on the car but was hoping that this was a battery issue, what do you guys think?

Out there somewhere
Not a battery issue. Did they use the proper weight oil? 5w30.

P0011 - Intake Camshaft Position Timing - Over-Advanced (Bank 1)
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the variable camshaft timing (VCT) position for an over-advanced camshaft timing. The test fails when the camshaft timing exceeds a maximum calibrated value or remains in an advanced position.

P0016 - Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation - Bank 1 Sensor A
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the variable camshaft timing (VCT) position for a misalignment between the camshaft and crankshaft. The test fails when the misalignment is 1 tooth or greater. This DTC can also set due to VCT system concerns (oil contamination or VCT solenoid stuck).

P030x - Cylinder x Misfire Detected
NOTE: x represents cylinder numbers 1 through 9.

The misfire detection monitor is designed to monitor engine misfire and identify the specific cylinder in which the misfire has occurred. Misfire is defined as lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, poor compression, or any other cause.

P0316 - Misfire Detected On Startup (First 1000 Revolutions)
DTC P0316 is set in addition to any type B misfire DTC which occurs in the first 1,000 revolution test interval following engine start.

P04DB relates to the PCV system

Time for some real diagnosis. Flashing check engine light will damage the catalytic converter.

Yes, they did use the correct weight oil and when the issue happened I took it back and they did a flush and fill on it at no charge and reset the computer. This fixed the issue for quite a while but the same code came back at which point I replaced the PCV valve and reset the code however the code came back again.

Have you had the water pump changed or timing chain inspected for stretch? I experienced similar codes because of a loose timing chain that was not replaced when I had my water pump replaced. Unfortunately, I jumped time a ruined my head which has since been replaced and running fine. But, very costly!!!

67k miles seems low for a stretched timing chain, but my friend's 2018 F150 with the Ecoboost has started the dreaded rattle and it has 60k miles.

Good luck and let me know how you make out. I have a 2016 SHO PP as well. Have you had any issues with the climate controls having a mind of their own? That's my next battle!!

Actually yes, the touch panels do go bad and when they do they will turn off randomly. I had to have my replaced fairly recently.

Stand outside of it when the engine is cold and remote start it. I could barely hear mine when it went bad.
I will however I will say that this is my second Gen4 SHO, I had a 2011 prior to this one and when I traded it did have a little rattle at startup so I know what it sounds like.

For the climate control issues I'll bet it is the FICM module or Front Interface Control Module. It causes the heat to do crazy things and front finger touch control panel quits working. The only way to control the temp is with the LCD screen. I have had one SHO and one MKS, same issue in both. I had the FCIM replaced, problem solved. It's not cheap so if you have a warranty use it at a dealership and don't by a used FCIM, the new ones have the issue fixed.

They are available through the ford dealership, sorry I don't have a part #. I have included an attachment on the info I have found.

To update this thread. Thankfully I had a lifetime power train warranty on the car through the dealership I purchased it through. It took quite a while to get everything lined up but the warranty company finally covered the replacement of the motor which is what the dealership said was required after diagnosing ring failure in 2 cylinders... Thankfully I only had to pay the deductible ($100) and picked the car up Friday afternoon.

I certainly didn't expect to have to replace the motor at 67K miles...

There was a breakdown in communication between the person handling my case and the warranty company, I provided all requested maintenance documentation at the end of April, I was finally able to get someone else to take over the case and it was handled within 2 weeks... I dropped the car off at the dealership not long after I started this thread, so it was there since the end of March...
