hey guys, i got a 93 ATX SHO. found today that the passenger side rear subframe has rotted/broken where the bushings and bolts are supposed to hold it., it has broken to the size of the bushing... so there will be no easy repair i see.

what are my possibilities here? probably could weld in a new cupped plate, then i might as well do all the other corners right?
more likely option, a used subframe.

so i imagine the subframes are different between atx, and mtx. i have heard that gen 3 subframes fit (read post from marcel on shopower.com, that he has gen 3 subframe in his mtx), he had to cut off mounts, and weld on where needed.

i am looking for the cheapest option, cause im selling this car soon, cause im buying a house... how opportune for it to break stuff now eh?

can regular taurass GL, or others work without mods or much mods anyway?

Yes a few people have modified a gen III along with knuckles and LCA's to a genI/II platform. I do not think, however, it has ever been done to an atx.

I plan on doing this eventually, and using the ZF rack...

yes as far as i know all ATX subframes, SHO or SLO were the same. the MTX subframe was the only difference.

now that makes me wonder if the old MT-5 taurus had a subframe all on its own or maybe it shares subframes with the MTX SHO? any one know for sure?

I know Kirk at NESHO is working on a Gen3 for a Gen2 ATX. Not sure how far he is on this, but I'd love to find out because I want one .

I'm in Buffalo, NY...and have both. In fact I have several other parts necessary if you want to do the mtx conversion;) It's actually a very easy swap.

in the "for what it's worth" department: the only difference between an MTX and ATX subframe is the welded on perch for the tranny mount. Cut it one off and weld it on the other, no difference.

IIRC, there's also a relief in the MTX subframe to allow the MTX-IV to fit properly. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this relief is absent on the ATX subframe.
