I changed the fuel filter tonight and noticed something strange. There are the usual fuel lines running from the front->back.. two of which go to the fuel filter. Then there is another one in the same bundle that dead-ends right next to the fuel filter and is just hanging there open. Any idea what it could be?

Thanks,
Joe

Probably from the drain inside the filler door.

On a lot of the earlier cars, the fuel vapor canister would oversaturate and fill the cabin with a raw fuel smell. The fix was to route a hose to the rear of the vehicle to vent the vapors behind the passenger compartment.

This may be what you saw, or perhaps it is the filler drain. :)
