After the FIRST time I pulled the covers and replaced the valve cover gaskets and plug seals, I had a notable oil leak, from the back cover. After pulling that cover again and using a little silicone in a few spots, and wiring back all the hoses and tubes, I reinstalled the cover. I then sprayed every where I could get to with a degreaser and sprayed off with water. The major smoke was gone, but it still had some whiffs of smoke from the back. I figured it might take a little while to burn off the stuff I couldn't wash off. After about 20 miles of driving around town, it is still putting out wiffs of smoke, from the rear of the motor. It is way to crowded on the back to see where it is from.
If it IS just burning off residual oil and degreaser, how long would it still smoke ?
If it is a little oil leaking from the back vavle cover gasket, can I tighten the cover bolts a little? I torqued them at 100in-lbs ( 8.3ft-lbs )
Is there any other fluid that can leak back there, such as P/S fluid. I had to push and pull to get the hoses wired back.
