Steering rack? or something easier to fix?

Well I was switching out my wheels and planning for an alignment because my car pulls hard to the right and noticed my right cv boot is blown and now has grease all over the place, but it gets worse. My entire right wheel shakes right to left and when I checked the tie arm it seemed to be very loose and was moving around as much as my wheel. A friend of mine told me my steering rack could be out. But if that was the case then how come my left side is okay? could it just be I need new boots and tie arms? I'm not leaking any power steering fluid or anything so I'm not totally convinced my entire rack is shot.

Is the other wheel thight?
Is there slack in the Outter tie-rod ?
Could be more likely the inner tie-rod.

Try disconnecting that tie rod and see if it is loose. That would indicate a broken tie rod end. If the outer one looks good and seems tight, it's the inner one, which is covered by the boot one the rack. Problem with this direction is that inner tie rod ends are pretty dependable.

I would do the outer tie rod ends first,(easy). Then if that does not fix it,
you might need to do the inners.(harder).
When you disconnect the outer tie rod end, pull on it to see if there is any play at the rack end.. If there is, this would be a good time to do the inners as well.... I need to do my outers soon.........:laugh_ti:

Make sure if you do the inners, to read up on the proper procedure...
they have a rivet in them, and if you muscle them out, you can ruin the theads. (BAD)..
