Heys guys have a bit of a strarting problem.Bought this 95 atx a couple months ago and having a problem with starting sometimes.Seems like it will start fine for 4 or 5 days then wont start at all.I will leave it sitting overnight and sometime next day it will probably start.Yesturday on way home from work my rpm gauge was not working at all.Car ran fine and was not reacting to no rpm`s showing until i thankfully pulled into my driveway then all of sudden cut out and stalled on me.Then would not start. My CEL does come on while driving and sometimes goes off, but when i go to pull codes there are no codes stored. When check engine light is on it sometimes feels as if car is bit sluggish then with acceleration it will snap out of it but light will stay on.When i am having the starting problems rpm`s read about 200 while cranking. So with that said im thinking it might be crank position sensor?I want to thank everyone who can help me with this and im still gonna be a happy SHO owner no matter what. Thanks again...

I would say it sounds like a CPS. I believe if you get a small mirror and look at the underside of the waterpump at the weephole. If its leaking then go a head and replace the waterpump and CPS. Also a great time to change the timing belt. If you don't see any leakage then I would first start checking wiring connections and grounds. I would also run the codes again, if the CEL came on then there should be something stored. Good luck. :thumb:

Does it sometimes take a few tries to get it to fire and run? and does it usually only happen during a warm start? With the engine running and the no tach along with the poor performance when the condition is active it sounds like textbook CID sensor failure. If the CPS needed replacement the engine would not run at all.
The Camshaft Position Sensor (CID) is an easy fix and a Wells replacement is about 30 bucks at Auto zone.
Also if you are getting a check engine light there HAS to be a stored code if not an active one. Period. The only way there wouldnt be is if you cleared the codes by disconnecting the battery or pulled the jumper prematurely.
Try reading your KOEO codes again

If the car is running, the CPS is most likely not at fault. I would look into a ground problem with the DIS module or replacing the Camshaft Position Sensor.

Have you run codes to see what the computer is telling you is faulty?

Update

Update:Figured out that loss of rpms was due to power steering resoivor to be loose and leaning up against DIS and in a way forcing it out of clip.So that problem is solved. The starting then not starting im gonna assume is the CPS.In process of changing that now. Thanks for all the input and ill let ya know how things go.

It looks as if CPS was the problem.Havent had any problems in last couple days.Check engine light still comes on so obviously two different problems i was having. But i do appreciate all the feedback and look forward to being a part of this club.
