My CEL came on the other day, I pulled the codes yesterday and one was for the TPS. Had to order one from Autozone, should be here by 4. So, I was on my way to work, the CEL came on and the car bucked a couple times before I pushed the clutch in. It shuts off when I push the clutch in if the CEL is on. I almost made it to work when the car bucked, I pushed in the clutch, the car shut off and I coasted to the bottom of the hill at work and that is where it sits. I let it sit for about 10 minutes but it refuses to stay running.

I checked the codes and got 157, 211, 214, and 542. I have another MAF that I'm going to try. Should I replace the cam and crank sensors right now or try the MAf first?

This is the first time I've really had to fix this since I bought last july. Thanks in advance for the help.

i wonder if its an electrical problem if it happens when you push the clutch in.

I really hope it's just a sensor. I'd like to avoid the pain and suffering of trying to find an electrical problem.

So from the info I've been able to find on here this looks like it's going to take several hours to change, as long as it's just the crank sensor. Should I replace anything else when I do this?

Likely suspects:

Coilpack
DIS
Crank Sensor
Fuel Pump
IRCM
PCM

A bad MAF will not cause it to run so poorly or even stall. If you unplug the MAF it should still run decent.

A sensor problem IS an electrical problem. What you don't want is a mechanical problem that causes it to buck and stall as described.

Just do a complete front 60k, and all your woes should slowly fade...that involves changing the cam sensor, crank sensor, timing belt, water pump and all associated belts and gaskets.

So I finished the front 60k last weekend and drove the car home without any problems. It sat until today. I drove down to my parents and on the way it started to buck. I was able to get it to their house. The only time it threw a fit was when I was in gear, the bucking would stop once I stepped on the clutch. Would or could the transmission be the cause of the problem?

well i'm stumped. nothing i replaced during the front 60k is leaking. i have no idea why the car acted up. not sure where to go from here. i should probably do the upper 60k since i have it torn apart but i don't know if that will solve the problem.
