ya sickos!!! I mean my shifter!! I've got a Jose SHOrtened shifter installed, and lately it's been really really really sloppy...like to the point that i can't tell if I'm in neutral or in gear. So I tore everything apart today and found that the bottom part with the ball on the end of it is really loose inside the socket. Granted, the entire shift box does move a little bit, it's not enough to create the exaggerated movement I've got at the shift ****.

I vaguely recall this being mentioned before, but I couldn't find anything in a search. Isn't there a bushing fix or something?

1/4 roll electrical tape, 79 cents. Also, check to make sure the rod isn't moving at the pinch joint.

here's the permanant solution, methinks...

shonut + performance + sceeroll down =

Rod Shifter ball-and-socket bushing (1 part, just the bushing (socket) for the shifter rod) SNP-RSB 20.00

i got the socket from shonut when i installed my jose SHOrt shifter and the metal ball on the bottom of the shifter fit great in the new socket.

it's most certainly slop in the socket. were you joking when you said electrical tape, or is that a cheap, quick temporary fix?
