Blew a turbo... Headed home from work and it felt like it had no power. During acceleration, it makes a a siren like sound and blows blue smoke. I was able to make it home. It smokes out of the right exhaust at idle. Guess it is time to start researching my options. Has to be low budget currently as my wife is on medical leave so our income is reduced.
That sucks, on both counts. Hopefully all goes well. Parts are still hard to find.

Friend of mine did that. So when I am done driving I sit for a few minutes kinda like a diesel to cool the turbos down…most of the turbo failures I seen is from poor lubricants. That’s why I use ONLY Mobile 1 extended performance and change my oil at 8k…never had any issues and I got 192k on it…still runs hard as the first day I bought it!

Finally received my XDI EVO35. Yay!! Had to tighten one fuel fitting more than I thought was wise but it appears to have zero leaks now. Time will tell. Took it out for a test drive and now there is a noticeable what sounds like exhaust drone between 2,000 and 2,200 rpm. Timing suggest it is the fuel pump install related, but fuel pressure is correct and the car runs fine otherwise. Just my luck I guess.. Another issue to troubleshoot.

Did a datalog run and no more nasty dip in the fuel pressure. Sent it to Brad and hopefully we can now start dialing in the tune for the new turbo's.

Great to hear! We had 3 more ship to customers this week. Slow and steady, but forward progress nonetheless!

Dont need to, the turbos will thermo siphon the coolant around with their heat when the engine stops. Thats why there is oil and coolant running to the turbos unlike diesels. Water cools the turbos and oil cools the bearings. Turbos are mounted lower than the cylinder head so the hot coolant will rise and lower temp coolant will replace it until the turbo housing and the coolant in the radiator are the same temp. All without the need for a water pump. Thanks to thermodynamics the turbos cant ever heat soak unless you blow a radiator hose.

You should never go to 8k miles on the oil. (As mine currently has 6200 miles on the oil Motul Ester Core, curious to see the breakdown) There are 2 turbos that make peak boost at low rpm and glow bright red under normal driving. And if its a non-pp sho it dont have an oil cooler. Oil ratings for the engine are under extreme duty driving conditions for a 3.5l ecoboost. Even Mobil 1 rates their extended oil at 3k miles on extreme duty. I send my oil to blackstone labs every oil change. Amsoil signature has a ton of break down at 3k miles and its by far the best non ester oil on the american market.

You do what works for you, this isnt directed at you. Its for the thousands of mostly bot traffic who view theses posts daily.

Thank you!

Found the source of the exhaust droan. A seam is opening up on one of the mufflers. So no real issue, just annoying at this point. Timing was crazy as I went on a long drive the day before I installed the XDI fuel pump and didn't notice any droan. I did have the radio turned off on the trip. First drive with the XDI fuel pump is when I first noticed it.

Now I have other issues to work out. Car goes into "underboost" mode when trying to datalog from a 3rd gear low rpm pull. It pulls fairly strong and makes plenty of boost prior to tripping underboost mode, then the ecu limits boost to wastegate pressure till it is reset.

You have a boost leak
But it still makes 18 psi boost and spikes near 21psi. Just takes too long to build boost from 2000 rpm locked in 3rd gear. I checked all the boost pipes from the turbo's to the throttle body. Could not find any issues visually. Did not pressure check it, may have to figure out how to go about doing that. I would think I would hear it leaking when building boost?! Removed bypass valves and both pass visual inspection but I was surprised how soft the springs on them are. I'm guessing the ecu commands them to close to build boost not the other way around. I originally assumed the ecu would command them to open and the spring held them shut like your typical vacuum controlled blowoff valve. Anyways I checked everything possible I could think of short of pressure testing the plumbing.

It's been awhile since I've posted here, I've been really busy with work and family, but I've always been hiding in the background watching @802SHO build his widebody monster and @Jordan_R come back into the SHOGANG also I'm patiently waiting for @bpd1151 to reveal his big secret shogasm.

I bought a sub box from someone who was parting out their wrecked SHO. Now I need to figure out how to wire this up. Does anyone have pictures of which wires to tap into?A1c72f894c5da87efc5c4ba4783da01aD00786acf5114234178cae0da8ebb04f

My SHO had an rpm related wining noise that I ignored for about two years. About two months ago I ordered a new belt and tensioner as I suspected this was causing the noise.

Yesterday I travelled out of town, 2 hours each way and on the way back, about 40 min from home, the battery warning came up... 10 minutes later the wipers started moving slowly... 10 minutes later nav screen went black... then I lost my electric steering... 2 minutes from home the ABS and traction warning light came on... Made it home but I was sweating all the way thinking the engine was going to die. Once parked in the garage I shut if off and attempted to re-start... zero, nada, battery dead.

Checked and the belt was gone, so as the tensioner. Replaced them last night, not to hard to do but access is limited, even after removing the piping going from the IC to the throttle body and the main coolant return line.

Here are the pics, don't postpone (too much) your repairs:

Now that the wine is gone, I can hear a ticking sound. I'll post another thread about that one.

I read this this morning before heading off on a little bit of a long trip. The trip went well but I had to run back into town. Guess what happened while I was in town. Now I need to change the serpentine belt. Please place the caution on the post above for anyone reading it. Apparently it's a jinx. LOL

Spent half day Saturday trying to make sense of all the wiring, but it was well worth it. Seamless install. Metra 99-5722, Maestro ADS-MRR2/HRN-RR-FO1, Alpine iLX-511 head unit. For now keeping the stock amp. Factory XM/Sirius is apparently it compatible, but who uses XM/Sirius anymore (maybe truckers ) Wireless CarPlay, A/C controls and seat cooling/heating work, gages thru OBD2 connection, factory backup camera, and TPMS actually shows what pressure each tire has. Planning on adding a front camera soon. Was it expensive, yes, but I think it brought the infotainment closer to what’s out there today in newer cars.

2010 Candy Red Metallic Tinted, cats deleted by previous owner, will be tuning soon once all small issues are addressed.

Can you make a thread and detail? I've got a 2012 with Sync 1. I've thought about doing this too.

I’m working on it. I’m waiting on a few more parts to come in to complete all I was planning on doing, so hopefully I’ll be done in a couple of weekends.

Cool. Please tag or message me when you do. How did you fill the space where all the manual controls where?
