My last ticket was 27 in a 20, thought it was a 25 zone, college campus. that was almost 10 years ago, but before I had kids... 3 driver re-education courses, 1 revocation (due to un paid ticket I didnt know about), and if not for a handful of cool cops I probably wouldve ended up with a few trips to jail. I got pulled over 3 hours after getting my license lol. my record is far from clean but there's progression

It's a trip, the mouse rules the land, the roadways are the wild west, everything that moves wants to **** you. If it's cold it's cold and wet, if it's hot its like being boiled alive. And if you can dodge the people, the traffic, and the wild life then you can try your luck against a hurricane or tornado. And if you survive all of that then you get to wonder if the ground your house sits in will cave in and take everything with it. Taxes are okay though
As a snowbird in Naples I can say with authority....true dat.

You guys are getting me emotional. I have the inverse father/son relationship. After buying dirt bikes, coaching little league for 5 years, never missing a soccer game, and supplying swimming pools and trampolines, one of my sons became an addict. He was a federal air traffic controller for seven years, and washed out. Then came the downward spiral. We haven't spoken in three years. It's heartbreaking. I'm truly happy to hear you guys bounced back after tough childhoods, and feel honored to be in this forum with such fun loving, respectable people. God bless you guys.

I will be frank. My bio dad was the complete reason why I did not ever touch drugs. I watched them ravage him, time and time again. Literally scared me straight.

I am sorry to hear that about your son. Hopefully he can turn it around, and you can mend the relationship.

I was and am very fortunate to have strong father figures in my life that help produce who I am today.

See how that all works out? As painfully unfortunate as your path must have been coming up, you still managed to take away an incredibly valuable lifelong lesson from it.

And I mean come on, who else here could twist the head off a 3/4” bolt with a 1/4” ratchet?

Yeah no shiittss contest, my old man taught me about cars, so thanks but was a dry drunk. So when he lost his patience you were his target. Suffice to say having him push me off a ladder, burn me with a soldering iron.... He was an insurance fraudster the list goes on... Why I don't have kids.

My addiction is food and well cars. Cept I have been fiscally responsible and put my money into my retirement and paying bills. This is the first time I make enough to f around with a Taurus...

Sorry @shoblock just be there when you can.

My ticket history will bring a few smiles, my first ticket was in NY and not straight after getting my license like @Junkyard_Mad-Scientist but in my college job that mostly paid for my education....

Ice cream truck, yes I said in NY so... It was 80 in a 55. Yes I was in a 1960 something Ford bread like truck, I didnt focus on the vehicle, no AC engine exposed to the console and nothing but fumes and heat in NY summer heat and humidity.

So since it was my first year out of college and I looked like a 90s grunge band member long facial hair and all the cop pulls me over and comes up to my window which was permanently stuck open.

Says "if I didn't see it, I couldn't of believed it, this piece of shiit doing 80 was near impossible, he said however I am giving you a ticket for sure driving in a truck that attracts children." Handed him ID and that was that never said a word.

Let's put this into perspective, I was on a LI Expressway service road, NO ONES kids were playing in those streets and there weren't any houses for the most part. I was just boogying to a great spot before the competition and yes this road was downhill... That pos truck maybe could do 65.

So the single points in time my old man told me I had to do something and it taught me a lesson, tells me you are fighting it and going to court. I tell him but I was speeding - he said you need to learn how the justice system works and your fighting it.

BTW he lost his license and drove without a valid one as well as had some of the worst insurance rates. All aside he was sympathetic to my lead foot.

So months later arrive at court. Get in line as they call the cases, and this cop I clearly recognize was staring me down hard. Like he was confused or something...

The judge calls my name and tells me what the county charges were, then turns to the officer and say Mr is here and please tell the court what happened.

This cop says, I don't recognize this man in front of me judge are we sure he is the person I pulled over?

Judge says if you are saying you can't physically identify me.... As the person case dismissed....

After a grilling 18 credit hour first year looking like a hobo, overweight beard long hair, I showed up with boat shoes shaved hair no beard, no grateful dead shirt and a FYou ball cap (thanks G Carlin for this description), as well as I took up summer running and lost 30 lbs...

End of story.

PS it happened so fast I was stunned and turned to the stenographer and asked what happened she smiles and says you got out of your ticket you lucky shit. I must of stood there what felt like 30 minutes but the balif excused me out the door.

Was never happier in my life... Don't tell the wife...

By the way no way to make this shitttts up.

@kryptto ive had some good ones but 80mph in an ice cream truck just to get off by shaving and loosing some weight. You win

The closest I can get is being pulled over after telling some guy I'd kick his ass if he named the spot, I showed up, quite inebriated, it took 10 minutes before I realized he wasn't showing up and he probably called the cops. I'm in a foxbody with side exits in front of the rear wheels on a one way in one way out road, sure enough there's the cop and theres so where to hide. He pulled me over, Figured it's jail no matter what, back seats loaded with beer cans and I threatened someone. Cop sees the cans, asks me if id been drinking, told him it was a friends bachelor party but that i hadnt in hours, asked what I was doing where i was, I said "nice night for a drive sir" he said " you sure you're not out here to kick someone's ass?" I nodded and he asked why, I just said "women". He laughed and said "none of em are worth jail time" i said "this one might be" he laughed again and told me to get home safe. That woman is now my wife so it's one of my favorites.

We need a thread just for good pull over stories

Hahahaha....I have so many stories about street racing, terrorizing freeways, county jail time, and being an overall menace when I was younger.

Take a gander at that thread....

@802SHO your comments on that thread make such more sense now. Lol.

Okay I can let the cat out of the bag now. I have recently purchased my Uncle's 2000 Ford F450 complete with a 2016 Lance 1062 Camper. The story with this particular trucks starts back in 1996 with I was 12. My Uncle Jeff purchased a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 with a V10. I loved that truck, and he "promised" that when his ownership was over, he was going to give it to me. Well in late 1999 he traded the Dodge in for this exact 2000 Ford F450.

When he bought it, he thought I was going to be upset because he remember what he told me. However for me, it was love at first sight. I was 16 at the time and was really into cars and trucks. So I knew exactly what this truck was.....7.3L Powerstroke Diesel, 4 door Crew Cab, Custom Bed ect. Like I said, love at first sight. I told him when his ownership was over I will buy it.

Unfortunately, back in 2015 he went through a pretty bitter divorce and he called inquiring if I would be interested in buying the truck. At that point in my life I was not in the position to buy the truck. However, he was able to keep the truck and then later fit it with the camper. I have been fortunate enough to see the upgrades and the meticulous maintenance that he provided to both the camper and the truck over the past nine years.

Back in March he passed away. His son is the executor of the estate. I connected with him, and said that I was 100% interested in buying the whole package. His son has zero need for the truck or the camper. So naturally it was mine, if a deal could be made. He knew how much I loved the truck and wanted to just give it too me. However, Jeff possessions are to be sold and all proceeds are going to go to his grandchildren. The Camper is worth 30k and the truck is worth 15 to 20k. So we agreed on a great price that would benefit both parties. Hopefully I will be able to pick it up in the next couple of weeks.

The details.......2000 Ford F450. 166K miles (yes that low). 7.3 Powerstroke, No EGR, No DPF, No DEF. I don't remember what upgrades my Uncle did to it. However, when it is in my possession I will obviously replace anything that needs replacing, and I will do tasteful upgrades. Once I get it home, I will write a detailed post here of all my findings, my plans, and of course document my adventures with it. It is two wheel drive, so I am already looking at 4x4 retrofits.

In the State of Dumbfuckistan where it is registered, it is considered an RV. To placate CA's emissions for older diesel trucks (which is borderline criminal) and to work around the commercial insurance headache, the camper has to be "fixed" and "not easily" removeable. I don't live in Dumbfuckistan so I will be unfixing the camper, and making it easily removeable.

Back in the early 2010's personal insurance carriers stopped insuring vehicles that are considered larger than one ton. Think F150-F350 as one ton and below vehicles. This F450 is considered a 1.25 ton and in the Govt's Eyes, it needs to carry a commercial policy regardless if it is only being used for personal reasons. Even though this F450 is physically smaller, lighter, and is about 6 times less value than a newer 2025 F350 (which you can get a personal policy for still) I still have to carry a commercial policy.

The plan for it. I am going to use it as a truck primarily. I am already looking at car trailers. I do need a truck and the utility bed is actually a bed. So of course truck stuff will be a must. However, having the camper will be amazing as well. When I go MTB racing (usually at locations where camping is permitted) I will have my own place to stay and be at the venue. My daughter is excited because now we can go camping, and if shit hits the fan I have a set up that will accommodate my family if the need arises.

Gorgeous truck, I've had the diesel itch for a while now, at some point my F150 will be passed down to one of my kids and I will be without a truck so I figured I would get ahold of a first gen super duty and start making it nice for when that day comes. A low mile 7.3l F450 (even though I can clearly see that makes it a headache) is a forever truck with any transmission option. the 4r100 is damn near bullet proof and the zf6 could puree grade 8 bolts into a margarita and still get you down the road. This might be a SHO forum but I look forward to your build. I know these trucks VERY well and was in the process of building a "badlands" wrecker out of a 00 F450 when I worked at the junk yard but my boss pulled the plug. If I recall the 350 front axle will work and you just swap in the 10 lug hubs which means if you wanted to you could in theory use 05+ coil spring front axle for a better ride. im getting ahead of myself, Congratulations on your truck.

Oh, and from a nerdy standpoint, 99/00 were the only years to use the full amber turn signal lenses and they are somewhat hard to find, if a facelift was in the cards I personally wouldnt do it, she looks great as is and at her age should be kept as close to original appearance as possible. my 2 cents.

Thank you. I agree the 99/00 are super cool with the all amber turn signals. I am not going to facelift the truck at all. I love the way it looks personally, and the only thing I would really do to the exterior would be getting the dent in the passenger side rear door fixed.

The interior will consist of updates. I want to upgrade the sound system and update the stereo head unit. I really want XM radio and wireless Android Auto.

As for the axle refit, I would have to find another F450 or F550 to complete the swap. The F450/550 came from the factory with "wide track" so I do believe the F350 front axle will work, I would just lose the "wide track".

Maintenance right off the kick will be:
Make sure that there is a new cam position sensor in the glove box.
Making sure the exhaust back pressure tube is clear and that the sensor is working properly.
Maybe a new 86D high pressure fuel spring.
I need to make sure the up pipes are not leaking.
Obviously, look for fuel leaks, oil leaks, coolant leaks. Check belts, hoses, ect.

Mods:

I don't know as of yet. I will have to look at the truck and see what is done. I do know Jeff did have a programmer on the truck at one time.

If it is still stock:
S&B or Banks Intake with the Zoodad mod.
Banks TransCommand
5 inch turbo back exhaust.
Edge Monitor/Tuner with EGT probe. I will not use the Edge boxed tunes.
A Hyrda Diesel Tuner with probably a Gearhead Tune.

The 7.3 Powerstrokes are rated from the factory with 235 hp and 500tq. They are widely regarded as one of the most reliable diesel engines, however they are notoriously slow. With the Mods above they pick up around 100 hp and another 150 to 200 lb tq to the tire and stay relatively reliable. Again not looking for a race truck, just something that is a bit quicker, and might get better fuel mileage.
