Whats up everyone?
Well I haven't really posted in a while but I am back. My last post related to a 91 SHO that I came into ownership of. This was my prelim as to all the info that I had been told of the car.

Quick run through is that it sat for 3 years, maybe a little less. The reason being is that a clutch job was done and afterward they were unable to get it into gear. The owner couldn't afford to have it looked into so he signed it over to the shop. I found it and now its mine.

I was told to look into the issues myself to avoid any confusion as to what is wrong with this car. When I picked the car up I had it flat-bedded to a garage for storage. We rolled the car in reverse about 20 feet. Then we attempted to get it into a garage by going in forwards. It seemed to have gotten stuck on the lip of the garage and after about a minute of pushing to no avail, I screamed to my little brother to push in the clutch. Mind you that previously it was unable to go into gear in any sense. Plus, I thought it was in neutral but I wasn't behind the wheel at the time. Turns out the car somehow started catching gears and after he pushed in the clutch we got it smoothly over the **** and into the garage.

The garage is tiny with no electricity so I have been waiting for the weather to turn into its current state to attend to this car. I have been doing small odds and ends...anything I am capable of with my knowledge and lack of adequate space. The fuel had already been drained which I was pleased with. I replaced the filter and what little was left in the lines came out clean and still had a strong gasoline smell to it. I wanted to change the oil but the drain plug was rusted to **** and/or stripped previously. Replaced the battery. Attempted multiple times to remove the drain plug from the oil pan with no luck. I was too anxious and needed to see what I was working with so I unplugged the DIS. Cranked the car out in a few intervals to get the oil circulated a little. Plugged the DIS in and shot up a prayer. Started right up....runs extremely smooth and quietly as it still is holding onto its original exhaust (probably not for too much longer, however)

The moment of truth was to see if it was able to move anywhere. I didn't have much space to work with and there is a blown brake line but all the gears work. The clutch pedal doesn't seem to have much tension in it and it also seems to not catch until it is almost fully released. In my last post someone mentioned that maybe the clutch pedal wasn't held up when connecting the cable and it wasn't adjusted properly (which is the reason for it not going into gear). Could that still be case with my description here? There is a new clutch in there and I would figure it would cause more tension in the pedal and catch much sooner than it does. I wouldn't know because I have never had the opportunity of breaking in a new clutch job.

Anyways regardless of the result I plan to have this car rebuilt to some extent but it would be nice to get it moving and really see what the issues are. I have a spare trans and a new clutch but it would be nice to salvage the new clutch that is in the car at the moment, if at all possible.

Besides needing to replace the brake lines, probably the brakes as well and seeing what the issues are with the trans; the car seems to be in good shape. One thing is for sure, I dont like the look of is this...

Seems to be coming directly from the trans.

A few more pics (sorry about the poor quality. The car is also a total mess...has potential though.

Looks a lot cleaner in person

Clean 50/50 interior. I have full leather in my current plus that will likely end up in this.

There is a little rust in your usual problem areas but it is very minor.
But thanks for reading and if you have any suggestions or anything let me know. I know it takes a lot of money to properly care for these cars and to refresh them. This is the 3rd that I have owned and I plan to make it the best out of the three, though I payed the least for this one. Has 103k on it and technically only had one previous owner. By the look and sound of things it was well maintained before it sat in the elements for a few years.

That looks a lot like the one I bought back in December. Mine's a 92 red outside and gray inside. The body and underneth is rust free. The inside is really dirty and rough. Both front seats are in rags. I haven't heard it run yet. New timing belt, the one on it is ragged, new ckps. The shielding on the wiring is bad. Ordered a new one today. Hope to have it running soon. Good luck with getting yours going.

You can drain most of the oil by unscrewing the oil level sensor.

Thanks for the info. I will have to give this a try once I get a free moment. The plan right now is just to stock pile parts until I have everything I want. So far I have a trans and clutch, all the 60k parts. And until today I had the rear brakes but my current SHO needed those plus tons more to pass inspection.

Make sure to bleed the entire brake system really well. There's no telling how long the system has been exposed and any moisture could be bad. My .02.

I was just about to make a post for starting a car that has been sitting for four months. I've read various things about removing the spark plugs and fogging cylinder chambers with a fogging oil; removing the valve covers and brush engine assembly **** on the cam lobes and shims.

But it seems that this is unnecessary or is overkill since yours started up fine after three years.

I didn't think of disconnecting the DIS to circulate the oil.

The only problem I've had is from a cold start. It cranks for a long time froma cold start and stumbles and takes from 5 to 10 minutes to run steady during which I have to goose the throttle to keep it from stalling.

I haven't figured out his cold start problem yet. Once it is warmed up it runs perfect all day. But if I leave it for from two to four hours I have to go through the same problem.

I've replaced everything - fuel pump, injectors, MAF, plugs, wires, CKP, CPS

Fuel pressure is fine and holds properly.

Checked compression and it is OK.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. I had noticed the car for about 4 months before I stopped in and inquired about it. As far as bleeding the brake system...most of it bled onto the ground as there is a ruptured line. I dont know much about replacing the brake lines but really wish I did. I will make sure to flush it when it is sturdy enough to do so. It would help to swing this car around the block at night to find out how well it moves beyond a few inches.

oh and if the guy replaced the clutch

i would suggest pulling on the clutch pedal same as when you press the pedeal with your feet

you put your feet under and pull on it cuz those cable are self ajusting

and im sure the guy is a ***** like on eoff my friend here they could not shift into gear then i told him in the morning to pull on the clutch and tada it worked in a second lol

so im assuming it the same thing and it a common prb when you bring your car to be serviced where the guy has no ******* idea what he his doing

it would put back the cable assembly to where it supposed to be

or in other word

just pull up on the pedal and then just push it to the floor you should hear a few clicks if it is out of adjustment.
