everyone give an update, as far as how things are going.

I've been trying to sell my silver 92 for over a month now, as soon as it's out of the garage tho, I get to start parting out my 93, and putting some of the performance parts onto my 95.

Other than that, things have been uneventful around here. No yard decorations getting stolen or anything. wink

I'm enjoying working again and contributing to helping our armed forces get the tactical images they need to make the bad guys and their evil toys go away. The SHO has topped 268,500 miles and last weekend on the dyno, was still producing 232 hp and 223 lb-ft of torque.

Saturday, Dec. 14th, I replaced the right rear upper strut mount to eliminate a clunking when going over bumps in the cold and wet. The strut mount didn't look as suspect as the play in the upper sway bar linkage bushings. Another washer to shim the bushings tighter against the strut mounting bracket should solve that. The TPR sway bar bushings had been previously lubed to eliminate that possible source.

I have now collected all the parts for a nearly complete top and front end 60K for my own car. This will be her 5th service and I am doing it early to stop some of the oil leaks. In addition to the 60K jobs, I will be installing new fuel injector seals and for controlling the oil leaks, O-rings on the valve cover bolt seals and new camshaft seals.

I also have a set of connecting rod bearings that I may be installing. I will take pictures of these jobs to let you folks see what a senior SHO engine looks like. I just don't want to let this car go to the car graveyard in the sky. I have too much fun driving it.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The SHO has been sitting alot lately, in fact it's been a little over a week since it's been driven anywhere. I'm trying to push up the date to have the cams done to sometime in January. I'll have to make some sacrifices, but I really want to get this car fixed ASAP. I'm just glad it's holding out OK and being as rock solid as ever.

In other news I finally took the SVTF to the drag strip and I must say, it's nowhere near as easy to drive as the SHO is. I ran really crappy but investigation into this leads me to believe it's my fault, the car is capable of much better times and I'm not getting all she's got out of her.

Still, it's been a hoot to drive and all of my SVT ownership perks are coming in. It's great!

Perhaps it's clutch time?
Try dropping it into 3rd, then going directly into reverse from 3rd, this all but elimated my grinding problem.

Well things have been slow for me SHO wise, since I am still waiting on about 2 grand on parts from IPT, (Merry Christmas??), but with my basketball officiating schedule, I don't have much time to tear down the sho for upgrades.
I DO know that I need to swap out the correct VSS for the sho, since I installed the wrong one ($#@&%^#* Autozone) in a hurry to get ready for the fall run. I have a pretty set of VITEK wires and a Zex kit both collecting dust in the closet, and probably will stay there for a while.
The sho has been running pretty well as of late, even though I think I didn't seat the flex-pipe gasket correctly when I reinstalled the y-pipe the last time. I hear a "flapping" noise at high rpms coming from that area. I have since ordered some new parts from fordpartsnetwork.com to ensure that all parts are correct. Torre at fordpartsnetwork.com thumbs_u thumbs_u

The 92 is still sitting at my friends shop in Odessa, and it needs some help, but might not be able to get after the 92 till after I get the 93 done. Might need to ship her over to Scotty for help there....

Well I haven't had time to frequent both here and topica as much lately, but wanted to know that I miss you guys, and can't wait for the spring run! Hopefully I can have the sho all "freshened up" by then!

What part of texas are you in?

There is no offical date for spring run as of yet, but I have a feeling it will be earlier this year than last, because we're itching to get out there again. I'd say march most likely.

I got my conversion running with the 3.05spd, now I am in the process of swapping in the 3.2 with some new bearings and gaskets. I am looking for a n2o kit, or a blower for it. Other than that the 93 runs great :D
My 89 just got its heart pulled last night, it goes intothe rx-7 in few months. The Body is sitting in my garage, anyone want it? new tires, brakes, lots of new parts, $450 takes it.
My grand national needs to get out to play sometime in January.
Other than that I am planning a trip to Tucson AZ for Late January with the 93. about 2400 mile trip around the south after I break in the 3.2.
Hope everyone else is doing good, Craig

Just thought everyone might like to know that I'm still here. My forum life has been on haitus for awhile now, but I'm starting to get back into it (I've remained active with the Topica LSSHOC list, as most here do). Life and other things have gotten in the way, but I hope to frequent the forums more now that the new year is here.

I'm still around!! Been busy this past month. I FINALLY graduated college after 3 degree changes and alot of "part time" in there. I graduated from UTSA on the 14th of December with a BS in Physics along with minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. I still have grad school and am now researching the different options out there for grad school.
The car is still laid up, been trying to find the 3.2 block. Looks like i am gonna have to buy the whole engine. so i'm gonna have a bunch of unused parts to get rid of.
Plus, this past saturday was my birthday. So, at the moment, i'm still hydrating myself :)
Happy new year to ya all.
Heya Scott, congrats on being back to work!!

Gid, congratulations on the graduation. That was a seriously long degree plan, but I know it will be worth it. Physics makes the world go 'round. A nuclear engineer (like myself) knows that.

If you hadn't read the story in the LSSHOC list, I'll let you know that my car got more Christmas presents than I did. I performed the valve gapping and timing belt services along with replacing the connecting rod bearings. You can see some of the photos from these services by clicking here and entering the guest password 269k. Each of the three services has its own, appropriately named, album.

The results of all the services are that I believe my engine can go another 60,000 miles before I need to dig into it again. That will be up around the 330,000 mile mark. The valve train looked excellent: only one shim at the upper gap limit, all shims looked smooth, little or no visible cam lobe wear and new shim surfaces under all cam lobes. I installed O-rings under the valve cover bolts to stem the leakage of oil by the hard bushings under the bolts. I replaced the seals between the fuel injectors and the head ports, the intake-to-head gaskets, the spark plugs and the plug wires.

On the front end service, I replaced the three camshaft seals, the CID sensor, the crankshaft seal, the crankshfat Woodruff key, the CPS, the timing belt and the accessory belts. A good engine cleaning with intake cleaner left the aluminum parts in their shiny glory.

On the bottom end, I replaced the connecting rod bearings for all six cylinders. I also resealed the oil pan with fresh silicone in addition to the relatively new seals and put in a new exhaust ****** gasket. After starting the engine with the new bearings, it was noticeably smoother and quieter. Even my wife noticed the difference.

I'd be curious to know what the bill would have been for all of these services at a dealership. Certainly more than the car is worth. But for the $300 in parts, I think that the SHO is still ready for the long run. I sure don't want a new car payment.

Wow, I love hearing these stories.

I haven't really been doing much, nor have I ever posted on the LSSHOC Forum before.

I live in Houston, near Katy and would like to have an impromptu gathering if it is possible. How do we make this happen? I am willing to drive anywhere in the Houston area. I have met only one other SHO enthusiast and would love to meet others.

It's rather a selfish reason for me wanting to meet others because not only would I like to put a face with some of the names, meet some of the people I have talked with on the forum, but also to learn from those who have really dug into their SHO's...

Every weekend some of the houston group attends a Car Show in the Woodlands area.
Last weekend we had two gen III's, and 4 gen II's show up. The more the merrier!
It's every saturday night starting at ~6:00 infront of leather today just past the bowling alley RIGHT off of I-45 north. You take robinson road exit and stay on the feeder road till you pass underneith the overpass. then look to your right, immediatly after the bowing alley is a parking lot filled with cars. Hope to see you guys there.
