as the title states im wondering if I should replace my valves and valve guides with my rebuild or do the valves and guides pretty much never wear out. I can see some wear on the valves but im assuming they would go for awhile longer, im just worried about them wear to much a while from now and breaking off inside the cylinder.:oogle: Think that would ever happen? seeing as some guys have 300k miles plsu on there cars i think i should be ok. I do the occasional racing on weekends but im not ******* the car while driving daily im usually pretty easy on it actually. Any advice or thoughts are appreciated:thumb:

just replace them. you'll kick yourself in the **** later if you dont do it now.
why do you say that? Will the break or just stop sealing? Also the guides have to get replaced too?

Take it in and get a valve job done. If your doing a rebuild that usually is part of a rebuild. The machinist will be able to tell you if you need new valve guides, and the valves can usually be reground to spec. and new valve seals put in at the same time.

The Valve guide Seals do wear out in time so I would replace them. I would recommend a valve job too, just to ensure that everything is up to spec with the rebuild. If everything is tight now it is not essential to do this. I have never really seen any vehicle with a valve breaking problem except the air cooled voltswagon engines. So, it is really up to you and your budget to do this now as the valve guide seals can be replace without taking the head off of the engine.

why buy $850 pistons? Get a JY 3.2 and bore your 3.0 out. Drop in 3.2 pistons w/new rings for much cheaper. Maybe someone with a spun bearing 3.2 would sell you the pistons/rods cheap.

If you can not afford a valve job at least take the heads in and have the machinist check the valves or you check and see if any are burned. If you buy new valves they have to be turned to match the seats in the head. A valve job shouldn't run more than $250.00.

taks me to long to type there were three other posts donewhile I was typing.

its a longgg story but i have the jy 3.2L pistons basically i got burned and lost 700 bucks overall. I have to either go with a 3.3L or spend 600 less and have a 3.2L with jy pistons. I think having nice new hd pistons and a 3.3L is better then the jy pistons with a 3.2L. The valves along are 250 bucks and i will probably need new guides too so thats 400. Plus machine work if i go all new. I really want to go all out and have everything new. So what you guys are saying is new but if I really have to get the valves cleaned and crap and just use the old stuff.
