sho went from normal rpm's to 2000 then almost 0 then up down then ran fine

This was a totally new one even for this little pain in the butt I have. I started it today cold out around 17 started fine, no problem. Got going down the road. Get to a stop sign then it started. She was still on the cold side. Not normal running temp. All of a suddone up to 2000 RPM's then right to almost 0 RPM's then back up again then down again. This went on a short time like a yo yo. I pulled out went to a store sat it there running to see if it did it again. No it did not. What the heck is now wrong with it or going on it? I have dropped over $7000.00 in repairs since I have owned it. God give me a break here. The last repair was the air compressor clutch seized up. I won't even what that cost with what it tore up. Got any ideas anyone? I really love the car to put up with this. But sometimes I wonder if this car is cursed to do this constantly to me. Thanks for any ideas. bs oh_my

Sounds to me like it might have lost its idle programming temporarily. Has the battery been disconnected recently? Or, has the battery gone dead? Anyway, it doesn't sound serious.

With the throttle closed (foot off the gas), it is the idle air control (IAC) valve's responsibility to control the amount of air entering the intake manifold. The IAC valve may be sticking due to a clogged servo rod in the air passage section (cleanable) or damaged windings in the servo section (not serviceable). Another possibility is a vacuum leak that allowed uncontrolled air into the intake. You should check the vacuum hoses to the throttle body and intake for leaks. The primary hoses would be the one from the canister purge solenoid valve to the top of the throttle body or the hose to the EGR valve if equipped at the driver side rear of the intake plenum.

did the engine follow the rpm's? i'm thinking that possibly your cam sensor is bad. check your codes. i think it's your cam sensor.
