Sho Shop HP Estimates (Your Opinions)

I curious to know what you think of the performance products offered at Sho Shop. Do the HP gains they advertise on their website ring true, or are they a little inflated? What's your experience? TIA

Judging we have a 248c Dynojet chassis dyno here on the premises to back up the HP claims, those claims are valid. Each part is tested on that dyno before it is released for sale. If the part makes only 2-3 horsepower, that's what will be reported.

Damn! How'd I know you'd reply! You could tell me the Dynojet is 450D with a framus dialater and I wouldn't know the difference.

I'm just curious to know if users of your products feel they get what they expect. I came over from the Probe GT community where HP claims by manufacturers were often not what the end user expected. The 10 HP gain at the wheels you get with the SHO Shop exhaust raised my eyebrow a little bit. The Borla exhaust system I installed on my Probe GT sounded great, but I didn't think it did much for performance. Granted these vehicles are completely different monsters, I'm just going on personal experience. Thanks for the reply! thumbs_u

Acually you should ask where is the HP made. SHO SHop is probally reporting the numbers correctly.(I cannot attest to that) Though from experience from other vehicles that I have modded I would get close to the rated HP increase, at different point in the RPM range. Seems like any mod to the SHO will increase upper RPM HP but decrease lower end torque..... its a trade off. The key is to finding the proper combination for you.

To give you example... 10 HP gain from exhaust mod on SHO, you may not feel this extra HP until the upper RPM range or not at all. This doesnt mean its not there.

They've got dyno plots, on their site, I dont see how much can be inflated

I'd have to say they're accurate. You look at certain mods and it says it gives an increase of 6-7hp, 11hp, etc. I'm a little more leary of advertisements of larger hp amounts from certain vendors.

You also have to remember that the ass dyno typically can't feel any gain less than 10 horsepower.

Someone I know had a built 3.2 supercharged sho, it made nowhere close to what it was supposed to make from the sho shop. There was also a problem with the sho shop sending the wrong pulleys and the engine not living up to its expectations. All I know was this customer was not satisfied and the car made nowhere near the claimed horsepower ratings.

Depends on what you want.. As far as HP well you can make every single part they sell for the Gen 3 and make the same HP. Mine is the same hp as the SS and I made it all for next to nothing.

Is it nice stuff? Absolutely! is it worth the money? well sure if you make TONS of money. otherwise its not.
