Hi I just bought a taurus gl and i'm curious if i could possibly do the swap from a 3.8l essex engine to a 3.2 l sho engine, my taurus is an automatic so i know the 3.2 would ahve to be the engine to go with that but im just curious if its possible to do the swap. i know its a stupid newbie question but any responses would be appreciated.

It will probably be cheaper, and easier, to just buy a SHO.

Youll pretty much need a whole front clip of an MTX or an ATX SHO. The whole thing is the subframe.Def. not worth the time and $$$. Unless its a wagon! :naughty:

But it has been done. There is someone on the forum that has an lx with a 3 liter, I met him and seen the car but I cant remember his name. He wanted to sell it to me for a grand.

You will need the following:
Complete 3.2 SHO engine including all accessories with tranny and axles, subframe, and ALL under hood wiring and underhood fuse panel.
ATX SHO radiator, condenser, coolant overflow bottle, PS reservoir, battery tray, Air cleaner box, and AC lines.
Unless you want to to a bunch of cutting splicing you will need all the underdash wiring, you will also need to get the ATX SHO instrument cluster the floor shifter with the OD off button, the EATC display, the auto headlight panel and all of the automatic temperature control parts from the heater box under the dash. Getting the entire dash with wiring would be best.

including that to get the full expierence you need the swaybars, seats, fuel pump, and body clading. just spend the $2K-$500 and buy a decent SHO you would be much hapier in the long run.

I was looking at doing a 3.2/MTX combo in like an 86 or 87 stripper Taurus. ****, stripped of all it's guts with no power windows or locks or anything, it should weigh under 3k lbs. Plus, think of the sleeper value in that.........
