I have a 92 MTX with 82k, just had 60k done around 5k ago. This included wires, plugs, etc(all ford parts). The problem I am experiencing is if it rains for a full day or two, my car develops a miss.(I also had a 94 MTX and it did the same thing). Usually after it dries up it goes away, but this is really annoying, has anyone else had this happen? Thanks for any help.

Try to find out what is mis firing--when its dark take a spray bottle and spray the spark plugs wires all around with water to see if you can see a broken down plug. Otherwise you can try pulling the boots of the spark plugs out and loading them up with dielectic grease-do this on the coil side too. It could just be a bad plugwire or sparkplug too. Good luck.

It would most likely be a leaking spark plug wire. They are not designed to be bent in a very tight bend as this can damage the core and the insulation. Did you remove the intake manifold to install them or squeeze them through the tight places with the manifold on? Another possibility is the wires had been damaged before you even bought them. That would suck.

FWIW, last time my 95 SHO went in for plug wires, the mech used 2 used wires, as the 2 in question had come through bad in that set. It can happen, just like with plugs.

Yes, I did remove the intake to change the wires and plugs because I also replaced the valve cover gaskets, as I had the all to familiar oil in the spark plug pocket. I went outside tonight and it is still skipping, so I am going to first change the plugs and see what happens. If that is not successful, I will test to see if the wires are bad. Thanks.
