Found the tan/red. It is in 16 pin square gray plug with 15 wires. It has one blank [no wire] spot. The other wire probably is not in the engine harness. The red/yel also powered the tach in dash. So it probably never got into the engine harness. Maurice

Maurice, thanks - pin #17 is sto/mil so that one is a match. The other wire I'm looking for, T/Y ties into the PCM harness at pin #4. I checked the three 16-pin inline connectors I have wiring diags for (C101, C104 & C122). C122 does have a single unused pin. It also appears to have the T/R from the PCM (pin #17) and the T/Y from the PCM (pin #4). Can you verify the T/Y for me?

TIA.

The c101,c104 and c122 makes no sense to me. My diagrams do not have those labeled. Can PM me them may help. I will check on pin 4 and see. Maurice
Edit Pin 4 t/y to gray plug mention in other post. Wiring diagram say to tach. Wire also goes to ignition control module but it changed color to gray/orange some where.

Maurice, thanks. Can you verify that your harness agrees with the wiring diag for Pin #4?

For reference I've attached pic of inline connector in question.

Yes This is my view from rear of plug or in my case looking at the body side plug. [I have body plug] Thanks for the picture I printed it for my book on my project. [Yes some of us still do it by paper] Maurice

Ditto Maurice, - I'm maintaining a book on this project as well.

The 3.0 wiring PCM diagram indicates the Data Link Connector is on the PCM cover. Is this the same as the ODB-II port? If not, what harness is the Odb-II port tied to?

Excellent. Thanks for the heads-up. I figured there'd be a chance since our 98 Windstar had ODB.

So at this point it looks like I have everything accounted for. Many thanks.

Maurice, I need some details from the ATX harness you posted earlier. I need the pin#/wire colors for the two connectors enclosed in the yellow square. I need the info for both the female connector (on the engine harness) and the male connector (on the ECM/component harness).

Will work on it. It goes from section of engine harness to other section of harness. Maurice

Uh, I don't think they do. There are tw sets of those type of connectors on the engine compartment harness. The set that is closest to the PCM plug are always plugged into the engine's harness, ATX and MTX. The set that is underneath the throttle body, I've never seen plugged into anything.

I am unsure now. Because on left side near the PCM is 4 connectors. Then these 2 on trans side. Then the 2 I got plugged together to the harness. Took this video as can see both sets are plugged in. Wording is wrong on link. Wife does crochet and I sometimes get it downloaded with wrong name. Maurice

Maurice, Thanks. That the correct coloring for both connectors as compared to my harnesses here.

So what I need is to verify the destination of each wire on the component harness side. I tried to identify some of them listed here, but need to verify what I have & complete all wires.

From what I can determine so far, the grey one has some wires that go to the instrument cluster, and the black ties to engine controls.

Got some more questions on the PCM wiring. I traced everything on the MTX PCM harness this weekend and all looks good except a couple of minor oddities.

  1. Pin #41 (Hi speed FP) does not tie into #22 (Low speed FP), but goes to CCRM at #11. In my PALVIN wiring diagram there is no #11 on the CCRM.
  2. Pin #40 & #60 (Gnd) are shown connecting. I have two wires-into-one (see pic) then into a round 1-pin connector. Where does this connector mate? It's must be on the body somewhere.

Gerard,

There is a mating connector to that round one on the negative battery cable. As long as those two wires get back to Battery Negative, you'll be good to go.

I don't remember dealing with the high/low fuel pump issue; can't help you there.
