Ok as some of you know I was putting a clutch in a 92 SHO this weekend...I had to go to ford on saturday morning to get the sfb, because they were SHOT...I mean nothing left. They convinced me that the front and back mounts were not the same, so I took what they gave me only to find out THEY are the same.

Anyway they are $30 a pop and I was wondering what other options I have, since I couldn't put the car back together this weekend anyway.

I see aluminum SFB's in some people's posts, but I haven't heard of any poly bushings or anything.

Also...if there is something better for a decent price...where can I get them.

Thanks in advance

FODZ5400155A Genuine Ford police sub frame bushing about $25.00 each at your Ford dealer or $19.90 from FPN, I believe the police pieces are only the top half (4) so you will also need to purchase the lower half (4) standard oem bushing about $12.00 ea.

So its about $37.00 a corner (8-pieces).

The solid aluminum option when available cost around $100 for a set of 4 (8-pieces)

You can check out my very recent post about using the Gen III SFBs on my 89 here: http://www.shoforum.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=19;t=000874

Aluminum SFBs are have no give in them at all, resulting in the tightest steering possible. They do, however, also transmit noise and vibration that some drivers may find objectional.

Delrin has been used in SFBs, but there is an opinion around that they will not hold up well.

I haven't seen any reference to poly being used in these bushings.

You basic options are: SLO bushings, police/SHO bushings, aluminum, delrin, and the Gen IIIs.

Can u guys give me Part numbers for the Original bushings and Gen III bushings. The Ford dealer in town doesn't have a clue...and I think that their parts diagram is screwed up cause what I took out of the car and what they show I need are 2 totally different things.

Thanks in advance

The genIII rear sfb's for the front are a different design but I hear they work well.

I would go with the rear sfb's from the gen 3. They are a two part number YF1Z-5400155-AA for the bottom and F6DZ-5400396-A for the upper. You will have to grind or file off two small plastic "tabs" on the lower part to get it to fit just right.

The police bushings have been taken apart, and deemed to be the same as stock bushings, but with blue paint.I had blueprints of my aluminum sfb`s dropped off at a shop last week, and am waiting on a quote,so i may have them available soon.
