Hello all,
I am purchasing a 1995 SHO with 87k on it. It has had normal service from my brother in law (oil changes, air filters, etc). I know that he is not aware of the needed 60k, the valve shims, etc. I would like to have all needed maintenance done, but not at the same time because of financial reasons (thousands in repair I assume). What is the most important issue to deal with first? Second? Third? How long can each wait? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and input.

MTX or ATX?
I'm sort of thinking if it's ATX you will probably want to change/flush the transmission fluid.
Other than that I would work on any driveability issues first. Start with running the codes (as long as you know which ones to ignore).
After that then I would think about valve lash adjustments, while you are in there you will want to clean your intake manifold, replace your plug well seals and probably a few others as needed. Spark plugs/wires are also good to do while in there, (the ones in the back can be a pain with the manifold on, I have done it more than once but it's harder). eventually you will want to change your timing belt, these are non interference engines so if it breaks the engine is not destroyed, but you won't be going anywhere anytime soon:cool:
While you are in there to replace the timing belt, also change the Crankshaft Position Sensor, the Cam Sensor, water pump, and maybe your serpentine belts.
Also while changing the timing belt, it's a good time to check for crank cancer, (God Forbid).

Really just read a little about the SHO and do what you KNOW it needs, fix things as they come up, you will be crossing the 300,000 mile line and still loving it:salute:

Hit up www.shophoenixproject.com and you'll find the necessary information, and poke around here and search some of the archived posts. If you do some of the work yourselves, you're not looking at thousands of dollars for what the car needs.

Good luck! :thumb:

It's a MTX. Thanks for the helpful info. Any other thoughts would be welcomed!
