Sebring Chumpcar Race

Wanting to put together a chumpcar team www.chumpcar.com for 14hr weekend enduro race at Sebring in Sept. No racing License needed. Car must be a $500 beater (looks like a crapcan but runs like a banshee) to qualify. Biggest expense would be rollcage($500) and a couple sets of tires/wheels(ebay) Entry is $500 for the car and $100 per driver. Have always dreamed about doing 130-140mph down the backstraight at Sebring. Cost would be 4 drivers at $300-$400 per driver for a weekend of fun, car willing. My wife and kids can't wait. I have all the required driver gear and Im willing to help with costs and the build if you can provide some more details.
I can also get you all the 225-60-16 and 235-55-17 tires you can handle at about $5 per tire.

I did a Chumpcar race up here in Ontario last year, it was a fun event. Just FYI, I don't think your $500 car will be doing 130 mph down the straight at Sebring ... when I did a Firehawk 12 hr. there in the early 90s in a friend's 5.0L Mustang, we would hit ~125 or so, that was it.

I think I'll pass this one. Not looking to spend $500+ dollars to drive my showagon like an idiot for 14 hours. lol, you kidding? Our cars will fall apart. Yeah, we'll prob kick everyones ass, till all our diffs start falling out! Even welded, the diff isn't 100%.

I'd like to do one of these, but it doesn't look like it'll happen this year.

I'd do one. We'd have to find a beater SHO and have a common place to work on it first.

Whats not to get? You pay $500, and drive your car around as much as you want, and as hard as you want. Yeah I know we could all pitch in and get one car in, then of course the $100 each person to drive it. Who's going to volunteer there car so we can all drive it around and beat it up!

Jason just sold his 89 for $500 or something like that. You can get plenty of beater SHOs for that.
This is the closest to actual race car driving in a competitive situation as you can get with minimal money spent on a car.
The problem is the car. Who owns it, where does it live, ect...I went through this last year with a car that was mine for this very series and it was sold because it could not stay where it was at anymore.

You don't bring your DD to a chump car/Lemons race.
You buy,build and race a dedicated "racecar".

If you all want to start a team I am more than game.
I couldnt care less who owns it,I just want to drive.

Still need truck and trailer at minimum. I don't care to have it right now as I have no space. I have tons of parts, engines, transaxles, ect...to bring a beater SHO back into good mechanical condition. Heck, I have 2 sets of good condition 94/95 knuckles for the brakes.

Okay, before we jump the gun on anything I will need to get this track day over with (Or atleast all 10 spots paid before then).
Who is going to store the car?
4 of us would only have to spend $125 each to buy a $500 SHO and that is pretty cheap. Unfortunatly I do not have the room to store another car at the moment.

I can provide a storage place for awhile,but I really don't have the room for doing all the prep required for something like chump/lemons.
