1/8 mile:
temp:85 degrees
[email protected] mph, 60 ft. 2.46
I lost .1-.2 sec. in time but GAINED 1-2 mph in speed since my last time at the track.
Mods include (since the first time) chip, flowmasters, Kirk D. camweld w/ the works, reinstalled the upper portion of the sax. leaving about 6 inches of the saxacone in the fenderwell.
whatever
whats with the 2.4 60 ft? I had NO wheelspin :squint:
I ran one last time tonight and uncapped the exhaust cutout: lost another .1 sec. but gained almost 1 mph.
Maybe the chip needs some tuning???? Torque doesn't seemed improved much. However, the shifts ARE improved and so is fuel economy.
When will I learn that the SHO is NOT a track car?

How big of a gain are we talking?

I'm ordering the chip tommorow anyhow or Monday, whenever they are open next, but just wondering.

So you think your car is slower from a stop now, maybe improved high end?

well, I won't know the exact gains until I run through a full tank of gas.
I wouldn't say its slower from a stop, its just NOT FASTER.
I am wondering if I shoud've disconnected the battery before I left the house. Then drove it like I stole it, on my way to the track. I don't know if the chip/computer STILL adapt to driving habits. My first pass at the track felt as if it shifted like it used to, but it improved afterwards... my ET's didn't though.
The chips high point is overall driveability. I am trying to decide if its worth $400 or not. I DO like it though ;)
The trap speed beat my best trap speed (by .5 mph) in my old 90 mtx. And thats when I ran it in 20 degrees cooler weather. SO there is a gain there.
I am guessing that the chips performance gains are on the highway... I bet it gets to 140+ a lot faster now, but I don't want to risk a ticket testing it :)

These cars are really sensitive to heat. You've got to run them at the same temperature and pressure to compare. Even varying intake temperatures (heatsoak) and coolant temperatures can make a big difference. Don't give up on the chip or the cutout just yet.

the temps of the before and after runs were very close.

I don't know if I shouldn't have left the airbox alone (with the open air inlet)... I reinstalled the upper portion of the sax. I figured it would help... maybe it hurt it???

Also, I forgot to turn the OD off. Would that have mattered in the 1/8?

no joke. High 9's are nothing to brag about (hint the  guy)
A 10.4 is embarrassing
Did you post about a .1 sec gain with your chip. How about your trap speed... did it improve? What was it?

 Yes. The sarcastic face

The gain for the 1/8 is roughly .1 off the ET. I didn’t really notice a difference in MPH. For the 1/4 I'm not sure of the gain at all.. But with the chip and mufflers, it was about .3 seconds off the ET, and from 86 to 89.

Your 60' look to be about a tenth off, ar you launching in any way?

yeah, I got a 2.3 before the chip, when I ran a 10.2.
I ran it three times with the chip: 2.47, 2.46, and a 2.57 (open exhaust).
I tried flooring it from a dead idle, and I tried tq. braking at 1400 rpms. Should I up it to 2k rpms?

Take that upper portion of the saxacone back off. It is hurting, not helping. It necks down in size from where it hooks to the air box to where it goes through the fender. And no you will not be sucking that much hot air in. The hole in the air box is close enough to the hole in the fender, that it will be sucking a lot of air from it. ;)
