i have yet to get my transsmission from IPT. 6 weeks ago my fathers credit card was charged for a transmission. I have yet to receive the transmission. Also i have yet to receive the information about how my transmission was shipped. Shawn said that the transmission was sent out two weeks ago. i asked at that time for the trucking company name so i would be able to track my transmission. i did not receive that information. i have emailed shawn for the same information and not recieved it. this mornin at 11am my father spoke to shawn and shawn told him that he would make a few calls and get right back to him. at 4 my father got tired of waiting and called IPT again. He was told by shawns father (and business partner) that shawn was at the doctors and woould call him in 10-15 min and that he did not have the information about the shipping. Then my father called back again at 4:35 and was told shawn wasnt home yet and shawn would call my father back shortly. at 715 my father called (long distance of course) back to IPT again and was told by Shawns mother that they are closed and shawn is not home. She would give him the message and assured my father that shawn would call.

Im starting to wonder if my transmission exists or if shawn and IPT ripped me and my father off for $3100 for a transmission and Quaife and clutch.
Note the clutch came in b/c i insisted i be able to track it via ups. i did not have that option with the transmission.

i have been out of a car now for quite some time, first waiting for shawn to "find" a transmission then to "find" a second one, then to get parts from the SHO shop. He assured me it was build multiple times and that it was shipped. Why does he not want to tell me the company name and Phone number so i can find out what happened to my $3100 investment. Mind you the credit card was charged 6 weeks ago and has already been paid off.

im starting to wonder if IPT "wonderful" customer service is as great as it has been in the past, or if they are turning into another SHOshop. Him being in school should have no impact on his ability to tell us who he used to ship my transmission.

sorry for the long post but i have reached my limit with IPT's delaying tactics, and avoidance squint shoot .

If you are shipping anything that must go truck freight, use American Freightways. Sure they are on the higher end of the price spectrum, but you WILL get your item in the intended condition, and very quickly. Your main concern being knowing where your 3K is at: just get the PRO number and call any company number. They can then tell you exactly where it is, when it will be wherever, and when it should arrive; at least with AF. The shipping company does not want to pay out damages as well as loose business; AF having one of the lowest claims rate (and getting better every year). And besides, ship with them so I can eventually buy a Quaife and MTX refresh kit!

I honestly don't know what's going on with the deal, but I'll vouch for Shawn. He's a good guy and I'm sure he'll get things cleared up for you. I understand you've been patient and it's wearing thin...but give him a little more time to clear things up. He really is a good guy and I don't think he'd give you the run-around like some other places would.

i personally have vouched for shawn, especially when it comes to his coilovers. But he has given me the runaround since he sopposedly shipped my tranny. how hard could it be to remember the company you used to ship a $3100 tranny you charged for 4 weeks or so prior to shipping and 1-2 weeks prior to even building???????? squint

I'm not sure what the chances are. NJ, I'm not taking sides here...I hope you understand that. But after all that Shawn has done for alot of us here it's just doesn't seem likely that he'd do something like that. Perhaps he did ship it and it's lost in transit...or maybe he got your order mixed up with somebody else's and thought he shipped it...I just don't know. Believe me, I understand your frustration...I've been in the same situation with a different company before.

I'm sorry things aren't working out right & I hope everthing works out for you quickly. Hang in there!

my point exacly. i see no reason y he would keep me in the dark for two weeks after he assured me he shipped my transmission. Also he charged mt dads card before he was sure he would be able to find the parts.
mind you i have nothing against shawn, but what could his possible reasons be to avoid answering phonecalls about the location of my transmission.

im sure there are people on this forum who have been nice enough not to post that are thinking "what an ass" but damn it its not you 3100 dollar investment that has diappeared. the car went to the mechanics last week because i was assured it would be here by then, now not only am i getting pressured from my parents, but from my mechanic who has had to take up valuable space with my car, that isnt movable.
all i wanted to know is who he used and what is their phone number. he couldnt even answer that two days after he shipped it.

Bizzy...if he messed up my order that is entirely his fault and even more reason for me to get the information. there may very well be another SHO out there with my tranny in it.

also please do not get angry with me for posting this. this type of post is the very reason this section of the forum exists. and i have EVERY right to be angry with the customer serivice i have received in this matter.

Ok this is about enough. How hard is it to find a good working tranny? They aren't lying around on the side of the road. I couldn't find a working core in my part of the country. I finally found one...you knew this. I had to wait on parts...I can't stock everything everybody needs right now....it just isn't possible.

Your order isn't messed up it was shipped UPS, I have talked to your dad today and told him I would call when I got the information.

I have told you nothing but what I know....sorry. I even only charged you $400 for a core charge since you weren't sending me a core.....and it is normally $1000.

I just got the information...it will arrive tomorrow. looks like it sat at the NY hub for a few days because which caused the delay. I never said I shipped it out two weeks ago. I said it shipped on Friday the 22nd, which is the information that I had. however UPS didn't pick it up till the following tuesday...of which I didn't know about.

I understand why you posted, but understand this stuff isn't common anymore....I bought the last quiafe in the US for your tranny. It takes 1 week just to get me the diff from quiafe.

Now I knew I could get the parts but it TAKES TIME!!!!

So as of this point forward IPT has closed it's doors to any shop work. Those that I have already made arrangements with still stands but I will no longer do any building of transmissions or motors...the small profit I make isn't worth my time or the stress that comes with it. Also I give generous discounts to 99% of my customers that will no longer be the case. It always seems to bite me in the behind.

Once again sorry for not knowing the shipping co or the tracking number...I am not the only person that works here. thank you and have a nice day

"And besides, ship with them so I can eventually buy a Quaife and MTX refresh kit!"

From somebody's who's re-built 12 stock tranny's or so in the last year, and 4 quaife'd tranny's, trust me, *GOOD* (key word there) MTX-IV cores and parts are getting close to impossible to get, new or used. Heck, back 3 yrs or so ago I remember Josh T. saying he had to source a 2nd gear and there were just a handfull on the shelves in the country. I don't think there are any now. Usually a gear(s) isn't included in a rebuild anyway, but sometimes severe wear on the "clutch teeth" from repeated grinding from worn rings/synchro's will beat the teeth up on the actual gear. (generally a replacement ring/synchro works fine, I remember severly abusing 3rd gear in a tranny for awhile, just to see how much I could wear on it, and replace with new parts and still have it shift properly).

Ford discountinued the stock diff pin kit (p/n E9DZ-4211-A) back a few months ago, so don't get any ideas about rebuilding your stock diff (unless you get lucky and find one). I grabbed the last 3 sets I could find in inventory, had to ship 2 from the west coast (Ford warehouse in WA). Add to that recently, no more diff bolts and nuts (stock are rivets, replacements are bolts/nuts). We scrounged up the last ones, and I believe now are looking for viable replacements. Also, the diff shims to set the pre-load for the replacement are few and far between (long since gone from the Ford shelves), with those folks who actually have a set in their possesion, you could count them on one hand. Also the pre-load tool from Ford is long gone, although SHO NUT sells a replacement tool.

On top of that, unless you find somebody selling a new or used quaife sitting in their garage at home, you won't get a quaife till May. None in US inventory till then. If you have had a quaife tranny built recently, you are lucky to have one, as you have one of the last from the current US stash.

So if you want one, you'll be waiting till June most likely till it's in your hands.

Uhhhh, pardon my ignorance and stepping in on the matter, but any differential problems would set somebody back until May for an LSD or for some time to find the parts for a stock rebuild?

Like i said i was doing this for my father who is not a member of the forum.
Yes i know how hard they are to find, hence why i am rebuilding the two that i have eventually, to have as spares. i thank you for the money you saved me and im aware of it (u forgot to mention the clutch) however i have pressure coming at me from 10 different sides to get this tranny in already so my family isnt short a car, and so my car doesnt take up space in my mechanics garage.

i have nothing against you or the company its just that my dad felt this was the easier way of dealing and getting attention rather than go through the cc company

Pretty much. There may be a quaife or two sitting on a shelf somewhere, but probably be tough to find.

Although IPT may have their diff units available now, I don't know.

If you plan on doing any tranny work, I wouldn't wait. I would buy as much as you can now. It wouldn't suprise me if tomorrow the synchro's and blocking rings dissapeared. (The rings may be shared with another application though, I've never checked).

We own orphan cars, and certain parts (especially with engine/tranny hardware) are getting *thin*...

Gratefully, I have two perfectly good manual transaxles not being used in my posession. It would be nice to have any variant of the refresh kit while installing the Quaife to replace any wear items (synchros, blocking rings, bearings, etc.) if wear is suspect. I was planning on unexpectantly blowing up one of them, and I figured it is just wiser to just remove the weak link and actually experience traction. I can wait if necessary for the Quaife; just ship via AF and the wealth will eventually trickle down to me. Oh, and shop K-Mart; I have angry, now poorer relatives. I am done with the plugs for now. :)

I had SHOnut install a quiafe at the end of last year. It took him a long time to source the "special" parts I needed(1-2 synchro, reverse idler gear). The MTX4 parts are becoming really scarce. Luckily, Quaife still had 6 or so TBD's in stock so he didn't have to wait for that.

I'm pretty sure you can use blocking rings, synchros and maybe some other parts from the Tempo MTX3. The only differences were in the rear case halves and the differential, from what I understand. Look for sharp increases in junkyard MTX4 trannys. They're becoming more and more scarce by the day!

I would guess lots of MTX-III parts cross reference, but still, that's a fairly rare tranny to.

FWIW if you keep good rings in there, in theory the gears and synchro's won't really wear.

I keep a couple of sets of rings on the shelf just in case one day it pops up and Ford doesn't have 'em anymore. Least I can keep my fleet going for awhile.

Heck when I did the tranny for my beater, I took the best used diff pinions and roll pins I could find, blocking rings from a 185k tranny (still looked good!), a little bit of this laying around, and a little bit of that, built a "used" freshened up unit. Shifts and works great, should last a few winters for the beaters expected life!

yes the IPT diffs are ready...and I have solved the problems wit hthe discontinued diff parts. So there won't be a wait on those if somebody orders one. they are built to order....ie. I don't have the capital to keep several in stock.

Don't the Probe's have the same trannies? Does that mean all the Probe owners are SOL? And isn't the Probe drivetrain the same as the Mazda MX-6 putting them in the same sinking ship??
