As I found out the SHO has a long pan and the offset head . This caused me alot of problems getting the engine to fit the body. The fox body Mustang steering rack is not too far forward. I wish I had found this link earlier.
The man had to move the steering rack forward for clearance. As all know this can cause steering problem. He built a method to put the tie rod ends back into the proper location.
Reason I post this is so other maybe putting the SHO motor in something else can learn and help them. About half way down on page. Page will take a little bit to load up. It is well documented with pictures. Maurice

interesting solution, but I agree with the concern that he needs the end plates to be stiffer.

moving the rack forward/backward causes more of an Ackerman problem than bump steer problem, so if its not moved too far most people would just move it and not worry about the Ackerman issues, unless you are trying to build a road racer.

fyi, Ackerman is the name of the guy who first figured out the geometry required to get the outside tire to turn the correct amount to match the inside tire on turns, so that neither tire is scrubbing in turns. Plenty of factory cars have lots of Ackerman issues (e.g. nearly any Chevelle / El Camino) but if you want excellent handling the Ackerman needs to be right.
