Lately I seem to be getting an occasional "rubbing" sound that comes from the rear driver's side of the SHO (or so it seems). The noise is a little bit like a "woo" sound, but it only happens for a brief instant. It's a not a systematic or continous sound. I've heard it in both forward and reverse now.

It does not happen all the time, or even often. But it's there, no doubt.

Suggestions?

The rubber boots that go over the rear caliper slider pins...is there grease in them? The caliper must move freely w/ no binding.

Noise Gone - Brakes Upgraded

Just to let you know that I think you nailed it. I recently serviced and upgraded my SHO brakes and I've been driving around for a while now with no more noises of any kind. With your tip in mind, I checked both rear calipers and all the slider pins during the service. I found one of the pins was very dry and crusty and did not move freely. I of course cleaned all the pins (and the slots) up real good and re-greased them.

So, my SHO now has 96+ new front rotors, new Napa Ceramix pads all around, clean and re-greased calipers, and boy does it feel GREAT! :D Super stopping power, no pull or shimmy etc., and not a peep out of them. :thumb: Along with the new Toyo Proxes I just put on, my SHO's braking ability has really improved by leaps and bounds in the past few weeks.

Hats off to you and the rest of the SHOForum brake specialists for the good practical advice/info. :salute:
