Hey there! So, the parking brake on my '94. There should be alittle rubber block between the pedal and the switch that activates the light. It is missing. Unfortunately, this seems to be a very common case, i've tried plenty a JY and over half of them have the same problem. I was hoping someone had found a solution to this. It appears to have been glued to a metal plate that is riveted to the pedal, but that plate is still there. Seems to be an issue with rubber and heat and age, so if anyone has a not old solution, I'd love to hear it!

I am also looking for a solution to this problem. My rubber pad is still there (sort of), but is becoming a jelly-like goo that will likely disintegrate or fall off any time now.

I found some cork, cut to size (kept f'ing with it until I got a correct height) to close the brake switch above it. I'm not sure anyh of us documented the exact size of whatever item we stuck there. When you do yours you should post the final dimensions. How about a hole in the middle of the metal flat and an adjustable furniture or washer/dryer leveler thing?

I found a e brake assembly that had not melted yet from a regular Taurus. Maybe west coast cars or ones from cooler climates survive better than others. You could try contacting Shosource to see if they have any

I just looked at my 92 that spent time in Hawaii and CA, it's melted. I'll check the one I picked up to see what condition it's in, I haven't looked at it for awhile but it's at another location but came out of a northwest car

I just looked, the rubber is still hard. I must have pulled this parking brake assembly at least 7 or 8 years ago so they don't all melt and decay

I also checked my 94 ATX and that pad looks better than the other one without the vacuum assembly. That was a Colorado car for the first 10 years and then west coast
