Bro;
do it yourself or with some helpers; not that hard if you take your time plus any decent shop will charge more than you will believe to do thiis (900 or so), and most shops will not even do the job.

rod bearings

glad to hear someone locally is tackling this job. sounds like if you were an experienced mechanic w/some time, you could do it -- pull the tranny clutch, then oil pan/baffle. then disconnect the caps and take out the crankshaft ... I don't know if I have the cojones to do that.

anyway, best of luck, keep us posted , pics !

if you want someone else to do it, i would suggest ashley/paul (Eliz City NC) or Doug Lewis (Atlanta).

I asked our local ford advisors & mechanics (fairly good), and they were not enthusiastic about the idea. they would do it if I asked, but ...

If you're just doing the rod bearings there is no need to remove the crankshaft.

Getting the Y pipe off is the hard part.

93 ATX 124K. I just finished my bearings, putting all back together now. Journals looked nice, some copper showing. Never heard anyone mention that you should do a break-in after this job, that is: driver her easy, low rpms for x number of miles........

you shouldn't have any difference really unless yours are knocking or something like that now. if you are just doing it as preventative.. then you will probably have a smoother sounding engine and it may drive a bit better, but you will really only notice a difference if it was not sounding great before it was done. :) always good to have it done though, you get my PM?
