only took me 4 hrs of actual relaxed work, but it took 2 days to work 4 hrs, and thats with my car on the lift, but its an easy job compared to any other job on a taurus sho

did I mention I abused this engine? drive around with oil light on, turn it 8k a few times 2 days before the rod bearing change, yet the crank was un touched, no damage or wear on any journal, it runs fine now, glad I changed them before any further damage.
with the looks of the bearings one would expect a bearing to spin but only one bearing was loose in its register, the new bearing fit correctly and had proper journal to bearing clearence.
ya the bearings look bad but the oil did its job in keeping the crank from any damage, after all the bearings are supposed to absorb the damage and not the crank, and its obvious thats what has happened.

I am sorry but I believe you are in simply denial.

If the rod bearing, which was wigglable right? Had spun, it could of ruined the crank and rod.....

Mine and the others posted here, where still tight in their spot.... They where JUST starting to show the copper color...... Yours look like they where copper bearings.

I do not care if you let a horse drive you car at 8krpm for an hour, they still look awful, and even though the oil worked, it worked poorly.

What weight are you running any ways?

driving with an oil light on isnt abuse, its ignorance.

define your definition of "abuse." every day, my car sees redline and occasionally bounces off the rev limiter.

the question is what would of happened if I tried to use 5 quarts of quaker cake for 70k and 2 oil changes, reality is the ones on this forum know that rod bearings have to be changed regardless of oil used on cars that are run hard for extended periods of time, these engines are small for 3500lb cars they make more than 1 hp per cubic inch,
wich makes maintenance critical for these engines, now if you never see over 5000 rpm then dont worry about your rod bearings, but any engine that sees 7000+ rpms for 100k of street driving will need rod bearings serviced, no matter what.
I made this thread to show the vast differences in opinions on this subject thats out there, everyone has an opinion or an idea of how things should be, I understand what happened to my bearings, I was just sharing with this community.

first, you post this topic to show that "these engines eat rod bearings." then you post this topic to "prove Amsoil works." now youre changing the subject again.

an original owner on this Forum, sdpatt, changed his rod bearings at well over 200K and they looked new compared to yours.

Want to clarify this statement, Dale?

AFAIK, the original owner was Greg Raciti, and the forum was sold to Beth McCormack. I didn't know Scott Patterson had any financial ownership of the Forum at any time. Donations perhaps, certainly a lot of his time & knowledge, but I don't think he was ever an "owner".

Not true, lugging the engine at low rpms isn't healthy either.

Agreed with the new question, what would have happened with a different oil at 35,000 miles between oil changes - yeah, you'd have destroyed the engine completely long before this IMO.

looks like you have issues with what I posted, thats fine but you havent said anything positive, you insult my intelligence, why should anyone pay attention to you? you some rocket scientist that spends $2.50 changing oil? posting negativity towards community members you dont know. your attitude is not getting you any respect in this this thread.

Been there, done that, with headers even. More trouble than they're worth, unless you're doing SERIOUS engine work / blower, and in this case, serious about at least changing the oil :laugh_ti:

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Let's keep this from getting TOO personal guys.

well my exhaust comes off with 4 nuts and 3 rubber hangers that slide off, not much problem at all for me, compared to the original y pipe its much less hassle I thought.
I can take a little verbal abuse, especially about my extended drain intervals.
wish my rod bearings looked and lasted like this guys did :oogle:
