I took my valve covers off for powder coating and the front gasket stuck to the block in one place and it ripped. We installed these valve cover gaskets back in March so they still have plenty of life left in them. Do you think it will be good to re-use? Maybe put a little RTV over it?

I was gonna buy I new set but I forgot its like $60+. Do you think CarQuest would sell a single front gasket?

I would rtv it. I mean its the front one. If it don't work then find the gasket. Easier to change than the back one!

No. I don't think you can get gaskets seperate from the set for the valve covers from the parts stores. Maybe from Ford? I think I could buy the plug well seals seperate for the GenI way back anyway.

CQ doesnt sell just that gasket seperately. Me personally I would just buy a new kit. RTV should work but thats totally up to you. I wouldnt want to deal with it again.

RTV will most likely work. However, personally I would just shell out the 60 bucks for a new set of seals. I would rather have the peace of mind knowing that they are new.

If it stuck to the block, I'd say it was installed in the wrong place.

 You're supposed to use silicone on the corners where it has the u shaped cutout in the head. I'd say enough care wasn't used removing.

If it were mine, I'd silicone it and see what happens.

Thats were it ripped, in the corner of the u shaped cutout. And it was my fault for removing it too quickly and not paying attention :nut:

Thanks guys.

I was referring to the fact he said it was stuck to the block when the gasket seals the valve cover to the head ;)

The front gasket from the dealer is $85.20, and they do sell them seperately.

Yea but he asked if CQ sold it seperatley and they dont. Besides you can get the whole kit from CQ for $15 less than that.:p
You can never have enough extra plug well seals.;)

Wow, you must like arguing or engaging in some sort of battle that is pointless.

Here's one for you, I can sell 4 individual front gaskets in the Ford packaging for less than the cost of one from Ford...
