Hey everybody, I know a few similar topics have been discussed and I did a lot of searching and reading but didn't find what I was looking for.

I just got a used, gray '94 steering and it has a few wear spots and it's a little discolored compared to the rest of my interior. My question is will dye conceal the wear spots if I dyed the whole steering wheel? I'd like to do both the wheel and the airbag piece in the middle because those two pieces are different colors of gray. I do assume I will need a dye for the leather wrapping around the wheel and I guess a paint on the vinyl for the airbag, correct? Can I use dye on the dash, console, door panels on all that too and get could results??

Have any of you guys found any manufacturers for the dye and/or paint that's almost a 100% match to our OEM opal gray interior??? If so, what company and what color gray? I would really like to get both the spray paint and the dye from the same manufacturer if possible so that the colors are a pretty much perfect match.

So I guess if I decided to do the WHOLE interior I would need dye for the leather wrapping around the wheel and for the seats... and vinyl spray for the airbag section of the wheel, the dash, center console, and door panels. Am I correct on all of that?

Thanks in advance for your help everyone!

latemodel restoration supply has both dyes and paints for the taurus gray interior. i'm not sure if the exact term for the color is "opal gray" on tauruses (i think it's called "mocha gray" but i'm not sure, that might be the tannish color) but i know it was on mustangs. their website is 50resto.com - it's a mustang site but all fords shared same shades of interiors. the cans are dirt cheap, like $13 apiece. if i can get any more specifics i'll post them.

Hey thanks for the help guys. So I guess all of the dyes out there are spray-on dyes, huh? I was hoping to find a brush-on or something like that so that I don't have to remove all of my interior to spray it all haha.

I checked out that LRS site though I think I'm going to go with their prep/cleaner and dye. Thanks again for your help and if anyone else has anymore info to share please post!

it would definitely be a better idea to go using sprays because you will have a much better end result than brushes. it's a pain taking the parts outta your car but it's worth it in the end.

Wheelskins. They are a nice material and make your steering wheel thicker.
