question. the 16 round hex screws that are on the valve covers....each of those have rubber grommets. would it be a good idea to replace those as well as all of the gaskets? I took them all off last night and degreased the covers and the bolts and was wondering about those black rubber pieces.

When I did the same job, I just cleaned up the grommets and put some black rtv on them when I installed them back onto the valve cover. They haven't leaked yet...

We do carry those at SHO Source.

If yours leak it would be good to replace. If not then it would be preventative maintenance.

Also, should i clean up the bolts really good? Like, degrease the bolts and get everything all nice and shiny?

Why not? Lol. I just cleaned the grease off with some simplegreen and they shined like fine China.

That's what I'm gonna do. After I'm done with everything, I want to be able to eat off this engine

Since all the bolts are the same, I don't need to put them back in the same order they came out right?

As for the question about the bolts, iirc, all the bolts are the same, other than the 2 small bolts on the drivers side of each valve cover. You physically can't mix them up so no worries.

Just be careful when you reinstall as the bolts are very soft aluminum and tend to shear off if you try and tighten them too much.

Install the 2 small ones first. Also use just a hex key to install. It is easy to strip out.
