ok, so my speedo was all over the place between 20-30 mph and it was making noise. And then I noticed it would be too fast, Id tap the gauge and it would (sometimes) correct itself.

So I replaced it. Its smooth and quite now but still too fast. Any ideas?

that suggests that the wrong drive gear is in the trans, which would turn the cable too fast and result in a reading that is fast. the speedo drive gear is a little plastic gear at the bottom of the piece that inserts into the trans where the cable attaches.

I had thought u the same but it was working fine before. I think today I'll get my nav system out. It tells u how fast you're going and should verify that the speedo is off.
