Does anyone know the size of the pulley for the ShoShop 12psi kit? I believe it's 3.2x" but I'm not sure exactly.

3.33"

With a big filter, stage cams, worked heads, "straight thru" exhaust, on a 3.2l would produce about 14 psi at 8k RPM at 800 ft elevation and the belt tighten down like a piano string. 12 psi at around 7500 ...

Not only are Kelvin and Terry correct about the FPS kit not needing one of these super-duper Reichard pullies, but when properly modified (beyond the original design), the "original version" shaft-driven FPS kit will also yield virtually zero belt slippage. ;)

Thanks guys, I was confused about the mounting of the SS blower. I was thinking it mounted where the alt was for some reason. For obvious reasons though, that doesn't work. The blower sits where the battery normally does.

I'm on the hunt for an FPS kit.

For those of you getting the 2.8 pulley. I wouldn't put that on a S-trim only on the T-trim (Just a suggestion) . And if you do, I found that going one step colder on the plugs works better. And make sure your gap is a little less (but not by much).:thumb:

[Little} Update

Reichard has 7 pulleys confirmed as of yesterday. They will be cutting those very soon. I talked with Josh while they were making a custom run and he said they would get to ours in a couple of business days. The plans are that they are going to call us when they are ready to ship.

I need one!

What do you think Terry... 3.5" or 3.4"? I was seeing 11 PSI at 3.6".

EDIT: For anyone with a V2 T-trim... What size pulleys were you running and what boost were you seeing?

half-way there, I think.

Hmm.... why not 3.1" :nut: You did increase the displacement.

Did a little tweaking today. With the 2.8 pulley I see 12psi around 4000 rpms and just shoots up from there. Don't know if temp has any effect on boost, but it was 112 outside air temp :vomit: .

Heh... I've only got 44lbs injectors, however, I'll be upgrading to Josh's FPR kit (upgrade to the basic kit I already have), swapping in a high pressure 255lph pump and upping the fuel pressure. With just the displacement increase, we're thinking it will be around 400+ whp on the old pulley, I'd like 450+ whp. Also, you know the T-trim can use a larger pulley for the same amount of boost versus the S-trim too.

12 PSI at 4k? That's nuts. I'll have to get a ride when I'm in Texas again.

That's why I'm wanting to go with the 2.8" ... with the 3.0" I'm only seeing 10 psi at 5000 , but I do have a different setup ...

Comment about psi : no two cars will see the same thing, especially when you throw in different cams/exhaust/head work etc ... It is very possible for a 3.2L to see 16 psi of boost with a 3.1" pulley, while another see 18 psi with the same size pulley and they both make the same TQ and HP or even the lower psi SHO make more .... air volume comes into play likewise ..

Yeah, I understand that, but it will give me an idea since a few of these motors are built up like mine.

I think I'll probably go with the 3.4" pulley. My boost gauge showed 11 PSI at 8K with the 3.0L, I'm hoping the new motor will show around 14 - 15 PSI.

I've heard that if you go above 20psi it really wakes the engine up. But thats just what I've heard:shrug:
I hope some day I will get there:type: .

As fun as it sounds, I'd rather not go that high. To get those power levels, I would require a different car to put it in ;)

:bowrofl: I've heard that too .. the surges in power seems to go in 5 psi increments staring at 10, 10-15-20 etc ... but I wouldn't know who would be crazy enough to be running 20 or more psi ...:boink:

I've got till Monday to decide, but I'm torn between a 3.4" or a 3.33"... Ransom reported that most of the people he has talked to with a 3.6" pulley on a T-trim saw around 9 - 9.5 PSI, however, my gauge read 11 PSI. It is possible that my gauge is off.

I know Pat runs a 3.33" on his S-trims (not sure whether they're V1 or V2) pulley on both of his SHO's, yet the race SHO puts down more power to the wheels than it can hook up with in 3rd hear.

Decisions, decisions....

I'm currently on the list for a 3.3" pulley, but I'm going to talk to Vortech today to help me decide whether or not I'll drop it to a 3.2" pulley. Josh at RR said that they won't make the run of pulleys until the end of the week and that they'll call everyone before they do.

In addition, after talking with Pat on the phone, he went out and measured the pulley on the white street SHO. He measured 3.125" IIRC... So it looks like both of his cars have a much smaller pulley than 3.33" as thought before...

How about the newer version? And on an MTX?
Theoretically, a properly-modified "original version" shaft-driven kit would perform the same on an MTX and yield the same lack of belt slippage. Unfortunately, I can't speak for Doug's newer kits since I have only seen but a few photographs of the kit itself.

You kow guys, if you switched to a turbo you could be as fast with about 1/2 the boost!!
