Has anyone had a front seat reupholstered? I saw some pictures of the bolsters being recovered, and they looked great, but I am talking about the whole seat in leather. If you have, about how much money, and where on the map did it happen. There is something wonderful about a "no-crack" pair of front seats.

I know it is tempting to just replace the original seats, but they are a very nice seat to begin with and they have that full, rich (and heavy) look. When you look in a late model vehicle, it is the flat panel, no crow feet look that makes the car look appealing. And wouldn't it be nice to have an all black leather interior (I don't think I have seen one since 1992). I am getting the feeling that no one has done this due to the cost, but it would be nice to know if there is a low cost upholsterer out there. I took my Mustang seats to get them recovered and was told it is impossible as the fabric is formed onto the foam shape of the seat, but I think the SHO still has the construction that can be recovered.

When I get mine back home I will have my upholster look at them to see if they can be done. They have a vinyl that looks and feels just like leather. I have had 2 other cars done in it and everyone has asked how much did it cost to have the leather done.

My car was owned by my father and he sold it to me when he bought a 1999 BMW 740 with full leather seats heater and all the bells and whisles. When he rides in the SHO he always says "the seats are the biggest thing I miss about this car". Plus it's so cool how they have lumbar and bolster support!

Where did you find the bolsters being recovered? I just did a couple of searches and must be typing in the wrong thing (apparently 'bolster' doesn't find it).

Kthx! Ashley

You and me both! I have looked, and cannot find it again either. It was a tan interior in a red car and the guy had the bolsters recoverd in red to match the car. There were pictures posted. It looked very good. He had all four bolsters done for $100.00 (I think), which I thought was pretty good

I went to the search thing and searched "$100.00" and here is what I found: SHOspazz92 had a big display of how to fix the bolsters on these cars. One of the people who responded was FOMOCOTOSHO who is the guy with the red bolsters on his leather seats. He gave a web connection for the picture and I tried it but it didn't work for me.

I can picture all black leather seating with maybe a tone on tone black for the bolsters and the inner panels. Or maybe the bolsters could be grey like the door panels (in my case). I love these seats.

Yeah I think that's the thread too. Although if I remember there was another one where someone had recovered the whole seat but there was a tangent about the bolsters...gotta get some maintenance stuff done on the car before I personally worry about the seats though.
