My 2010 SHO has now crossed over the 37K mark and I’m starting to experience some nagging rattles. I took SHOrod’s advice and took care of the headliner wiring but I still have three major rattle issues. Wonder if anyone has had these same issues.

1. Steering Column. This rattle started with the colder weather and hasn’t gone away. I find at higher speeds (70 MPH+) and rough roads (in ample supply in Ohio) the rattle seems to be from underneath the column or by the turn signal stalk. I have thought about taking the column apart looking for a loose part, but don’t know what I’d be getting myself into.

2. Wheel well cover. The plastic cover in the wheel well has fasteners (not screws) that can break or get loose. Again at higher speeds I found the air would get behind the cover and make a very bad rattle. I finally glued the loose fasteners down and that has done the trick.

3. Bottom of windshield. The black plastic/rubber base of the windshield that also houses the wipers. Air was somehow making it under the cover and causing a high speed flapping noise at 60 MPH+. SO loud, that I couldn’t carry on a phone conversation. Nothing obvious was loose, so I took duct tape and covered various sections until I isolated the loose area. I then took GOOP automotive adhesive and ran a small bead in the area of concern. I was very cautious not to use too much or cover too much area due to the drainage function below the cover. Seems to have done the trick so far.

Just curious if anyone has experienced these same symptoms and what you have done to cure the problem. Right now, the steering column rattle is the most annoying since it is “right in my lap” every time I drive.

I haven't run in to any of these rattles, but then again I don't even have 4k miles on the odometer yet.

As for the steering column rattle, the first thing I'd do since rattles seem to telegraph is to check the door pockets for small objects that could rattle, then the various compartments in the center console, and finally the glove box. Maybe remove everything from all the little cubbies and see if the noise goes away. Worst case it will tell you it's NOT coming from one of those areas. Then you can take a peek under the seats and see if there is a wiring connector up against a seat rail or something.

Good luck! I know how annoying rattles can be.

Ours had a buzz in the steering column that was driving me crazy. At highway speeds just off center to the right it would buzz, then turn back to the left just a bit and it would stop. I could hold tension on the wheel (in any direction-pull towards me, sideways, etc) and it would stop. I was just about ready to call the dealer and it went away! Hope it doesn't come back.

Sounds like a dealer fix for the steering wheel issue. I expect that it's a connector/wire under there that's come loose and needs securing. As you suggest, taking it apart might get one into some hot water so a dealer visit might be prudent.

The others fixes are great suggestions and might have been otherwise difficult to locate.
Thanks for sharing with us.

If you do visit the dealer for the steering wheel issue please let us know what he does.

seat rattle

My used 2010 had a rattle in front passenger seat-when empty and over some rough patches. No problem with a body in the seat. When empty I could bump seat with hand and reproduce rattle. Dealer replaced seat track-problem solved-for about 1000 miles. Now same rattle back. Guess another trip to dealer.
