I think my rack is loose. The other day while driving my steering did not feel right, next day fuild was a little low and when the wheels turn they go a little past the maximum and rub the body. Also there is a squeak type noise when I go over a hard bump, anybody had a similar problem? How is the rack bolted to the body/subframe? Help would be much appreciated.

There are 2 24mm or 15/16" Nuts at the rear of the subframe that hold it down. I suspect maybe the subframe bushings or the tie rod ends. You shuold have some one turn the wheel for you as you lay on the ground and look for any movment. Then jack up the wheels and check for play.

The subframe bushings are less then a year old not sure how old the outer tie rods are but the inner were replaced with the rack last year.

So I checked the subframe mount bolts, rack bolts, endlinks, strut tower nuts, torque limiters, motor mounts and everything is tight. I noticed a few things, found some p/s fluid on the right side of the subframe just below the rack but I don't see it dripping and there is no major loss of fluid. I tapped almost everything with a rubber hammer and could not recreate the squeak/noise but I hear it on hard bumps, also I hear it when either front door is closed and it can be recreated when the clutch grabs and a load is put on the subframe. It sounds like it is from the front the subframe and I did check the strutrods and they are tight.
