Hey folks- I just acquired a '89 SHO with 63K miles about 2 weeks ago. $650.00 ain't too bad for a good runner with 2 door dings and some minor chipping around the lower cladding from the cinders put on the roads here in winter, is it??
Of course the purchase was in the works for a few weeks before and I signed up then, but I've just been activated, so here we go-
1. I'm certain the 60K wasn't done, which is why they let it go so "cheap". I've read numerous reports about doing this and that while I'm at it, so I thought I'd ask here, what should I get done, in total?
2. I've got a little puff of oil smoke when cold / with a cold rev's. I'm quite certain this should be the valve guide seals, but again defer to the collective experience here. This will be addressed at the 60K service time, but while I'm there should I be looking for anything else?
3. I presume my SHO has the original clutch, and though there are absolutely no problems, should I be concerned about the from what I hear is smaller 89/90 clutch? I grew out of the big smoky burnout phase years ago (as much as one can, hehehe) but want this baby relatively bulletproof. It will see occasional auto-x use, but mostly it will be a daily driver.
I really appreciate the way you folks have so much information laid out so well. Keep up the good communication, and thanks in advance for any tips and tidbits of helpful info.
