question about Fidanza flywheel

I am installing a fidanza flywheel(for the first time) on a members car,the question I have is do I use the alignment dowels on the fidanza or not? I am test fitting everything and just have the dowels placed in the holes ever so slightly and they are not matching the pressure plate guide holes.TIA for help on this matter.

After alot of careful measuring,I have found out that the alignment dowels are 1/16th of an inch different on the fidanza than the stocker,one hole is almost a full 1/8 of an inch.All of the bolt holes line up and the pressure plate and the flywheel line up without the dowels.So I guess I am asking Is it necessary to use the dowels or not?

If the alignment dowel holes are off, I would not use the flywheel. Chances are the bolt holes are off too if that is the case, which would make for a very unbalanced setup. Everything I've heard about Fidanza as of late has pointed to ANY other aftermarket option.

Thanks Chris,the bolt holes due line up. However I am very skeptical about using it without the dowels and will let the owner know so he can take the necessary steps to get this problem fixed.Thanks again.

If he can, I would recommend he return the flywheel to Fidanza or whoever he purchased it from, and look into an Unorthodox Racing Flywheel if he is set on having a lightweight. I know NOPI ( http://www.nopionline.com/ ) has them, but I have no idea if their price is the best. From everything I've heard, it is a better answer. Higher quality product and it uses a full 9.75" Insert, whereas the Fidanza does not.

The dowels are absolutely necessary for proper alignment and balance of the pressure plate. My Fidanza was drilled (dowels and bolt holes) for both the 9.25" and 9.75" clutch setup, are you sure you are using the right holes for the dowels? If you're positive the holes are not drilled properly, return the flywheel for an exchange.

When I installed mine, I noticed that the dowels were too long and the PP would not seat properly. I cured that easily by cutting down the dowels with a dremel.

I have checked and re-checked and re-checked again to make sure that I am using the proper dowel pin locations and they do not line up.I will have him return it. Thanks for the info Chris I will show this to him and see if he is interested,I know I am.
